Helly HansenMen's Dubliner Jacket

It's good to size up
I've been looking for an affordable Dubliner for a while. I used to work for the RNLI as a paid fundraiser, and this was the jacket we were issued with. We worked outside throughout the year, in all weathers. It remained watertight even in the worst downpours, but it's not insulated - so you need to layer up to stay warm. I used to wear a L, which was fine in summer but a little snug with a fleece underneath in winter (I'm short and stocky W36 C44). To that end, I decided to buy the XXL to enable me to wear a decent insulation layer underneath it. I could have got away with an XL, but I went for an XXL (it's good to have the luxury of a bit of extra room). The quality is still there. Excellent waterproofing. Quality zips and poppers. The stowable hood is great (there is a technique required to repack it neatly - it takes a bit of trial and error). There is a zipped interior pocket to keep your mobile dry (essential). The adjustable cuffs are good. The HH branding is subtle and tasteful. Just a brilliant jacket all-round (and very popular with RNLI staff!)I'm pleased to have been able to buy one in black for a fair price - just bear in mind it's not terribly warm on its own - it is, in essence, a waterproof shell. There is an insulated version (which is also excellent), but I wanted four-season flexibility. This jacket gives me that.

Great Raincoat
This jacket is comfy and fits well. It's well made and breathable, whilst also being very waterproof. Does a great job as a raincoat at a very reasonable price.

Really nice sturdy rain coat
I have to admit, I was initially really torn over getting this at a selling price of £70.Some of these brands can be difficult to get the sizing right, but I found a shop locally that was selling the quilted version in a XXL for £89 and it was a nice fit. For reference, I'm around 6'4" and just over 110kg.I opted to buy the quilted version, and this non-quilted version to partner with a fleece to see which I preferred. Ultimately, I ended up liking them so much, I ended up keeping both! (And having just spotted the Racer GBlue version for £36, bought that too). The Dubliner is just a really nice jacket. This non quilted version is roomy without being baggy. It has good storage options with two zipper pockets and one internal breast pocket on the left hand side, really handy for keeping your phone in when out for a walk.In Donegal, things can get windy and rainy in a hurry, and this jacket has seen some bad weather recently and passed the waterproof and windproof tests with flying colors. The thing I prefer in the non-quilted version over the quilted, is the fastenings up the front of the jacket - the quilted jacket has velcro, which admittedly is easier to do up in the rain whilst wearing gloves, but I find with repeated use, velcro can look pretty untidy after a lot of use, and I always have a fear of it possible tearing. The pop fastening system on this just feels a bit more premium, despite it being a cheaper version of the same Dubliner line. The racing red is a really visible vibrant color too.I think the reasons I have rated 4 rather that 5 is that I find the hood a bit fiddly to put away and look tidy again. The pictures show a nice flush straight color, but I find you do get a bit of a wingtip effect once you have used it a few times as the hood, when rolled up, doesn't quite reach the ends of the collar, leaving them folding outwards a bit. This isn't anything major, but having paid £70 for the red, and found the blue later for £36, you feel a bit like you missed out on a bargain - at that price it's a rock solid 5.

Waterproof
Excellent so far has kept me dry in some very heavy rain cycling to work. Im usually a 2xl i went 3xl for room for a fleece underneath in winter 2xl would have been ok so it is to size. Excellent quality with both zipper and buttons.

HH waterproof lightweight jacket
Great quality, nice and light but waterproof, worth the money, complete with fold away hood.

Not too long. Looks great.
This is the perfect semi-lightweight jacket for chilly autumn days. It's not too bulky and is a good length – by which I mean it isn't too long in the body – a common fault these days when clothes seen to be design for seven foot tall people. Has a zip pocket inside for your phone or wallet. Side pockets are zipped too. Hood can be left out of its compartment if you don't want the 'rubber ring' effect.

Just the job!
Normal buy northface or Berghaus jackets, but this is my first helly.Impressed with the fit, material quality and the finishing touch such as adjustable cuffs.Nicely lined arms and pockets. It rolls nicely into a compact jacket for carrying in a backpack if needed.I will make the presumption its waterproof.Look forward to using it this winter although under layer will be needed.

Great Jacket
Comfy, pockets are deep and as you'd expect from HH clothes, excellent quality. It blocked the wind out with ease, the sleeves and part of the inside are lined with a fleece so it was warm enough but would recommend wearing a jumper underneath for really cold weather. Looks great, feels great and would buy another without hesitation
