Can this be worn cross body? Is the strap long enough or can it only be worn on the shoulder?

It can be worn across or aside. The strap can either be shortened or extended to suit personal preference. I like it at hip length and across my chest to carry my laptop and tablet. With plenty of room with my diary and cable. Very pleased with it.

Is the shoulder strap detatchable?

Hi, yes the strap is detachable as it has standard clips. The strap is a little thin which is the only negative about the bag although I have got used to it but may buy a thicker one at some point. Other than that though it’s a fantastic bag

will it fit macbook pro 16inch?

Yes it will. Its a good size bag

Does the main centre section have a zip ?

Unfortunately it doesn't. It only has a padded divided centre with a small velcro strap to secure the section. The only zipped partition is on the back of the bag, but this is only big enough (smaller than A4 size) to hold a paperback book, pens, pencils etc.
