It's all about the LiDAR navigation
Roborock Revo Q. We were iRobot customers since 2010. We've owned 3 Roomba vacuum robots, including the S9. We also owned the Braava M6 mopping robot. After 13 years as an iRobot customer, we made the switch to Roborock.Wow! The LiDAR navigation is lightyears ahead of the VSLAM or whatever iRobot calls its camera-based system. And that means iRobot does not have a camera filming the inside of our house anymore. Unlike some of its Roborock siblings, the Revo Q has no cameras at all - just LiDAR and sensors. Our first floor is about 1,600 SF, and the Roborock Revo Q mapped it in 7 minutes. Seven minutes! That took hours with the S9 and M6 - each having to map separately. Our iRobot products would get lost, repeatedly, run into doorjambs and walls, and we spent more time chasing the robots down than was worth it. The M6 mopping robot was the worst. iRobot's Customer Service gave us idiotic suggestions and then sent us a new M6 unit. We will give it away, as we are not going to spend more hours mapping it.In contrast, the Roborock Revo Q draws a super accurate map, and navigates through a very complex floor plan accurately. Plus we don't have to leave the lights on - unlike robots with cameras, the Revo Q can see in the dark. We have no carpet and only hard flooring - made up of tile floor in the master bathroom, stone flagstone in the front entry and linoleum throughout the rest of the first floor.Cleaning is good too. Both vacuuming and mopping do a great job. We do use the Roborock floor cleaner added to the clean water tank. Some people complained about dog hair clogging the base station self-empty system. We have a medium size dog (60 lbs), and have seen no issues with clogging. We made one inquiry to Roborock Customer Service about the floor cleaner (to verify it is low pH, and safe for linoleum), and we got a quick response. Otherwise, we got the Revo Q up and running without too much trouble. Connecting to the internet could have been faster, as it appears I needed to have my phone connected to the 2.4G network (I had it on the 5G network). Once that was figured out, the Revo Q connected and updated. The Roborock app could use some work as some features are not super obvious. It took me a while to figure out how to customize the cleaning in each room (that is, setting the levels of vacuum or mopping, and if you want vacuum AND mopping, or one or the other). I have the Revo Q vacuum only on the stone flagstone of the entry. And it took some time to find the cleaning history within the app. Hopefully, Roborock will make the app more intuitive.Roborock should make the robot a little smarter too - like knowing it just finished washing the mop after completing a room cleaning and does not need to clean them again 10 minutes later when sent to clean a new set of rooms. Or to know that it should continue to dry the Revo Q's mop after it was briefly sent out to vacuum only.As noted on many YouTube reviews, the navigation for the Revo Q is limited in obstacle avoidance. Not a big deal for me, as I pick up cords dog toys and our area rugs - so the rug's fringe or cables do not get eaten. Besides being a threat to delicate items like cables or shoelaces, the navigation is great. The Revo Q does not bang into or manhandle furniture like the Roomba S9 did. Chair and table legs are encircled accurately, with no fuss. We've used robots for floor cleaning for 13 years and should be hard to impress, but Roborock has impressed us. We can now clean the floors in half the time that our iRobots needed.

Must have with kids
I have had 4 different brands of robot vacuums. They all have had their pros and cons and this one is no exception, but this one is my favorite so far for consistency and how it keeps my floors clean. Does it sometimes suck up things it shouldn’t like a sock or Lego and get stuck? Yes, and other robot vacuums may have better object avoidance sensing to avoid those kinds of things, but I just make sure to keep the floors free of clutter so this thing can make my life easier. It does a great job on rugs, hardwood floors, bathroom tile, and carpet. It also handles corners well and other robot vacuums have trouble there. It has a low profile so it can easily go under furniture. This little vacuum can also navigate between all my chairs on my dining table, which is impressive. Not to mention, it has a mopping function which is so handy for my hardwood. It’s easy to clean out the old water too once it’s done mopping- you just pull it out of the docking station and dump. I wish the object avoidance sensing was better, but this model mapped my house and it consistently does a great job of keeping my floors clean from the front of my house throughout every room and it remembers the map. I’ve had other vacuums that had to re-map with every use and it was extremely frustrating. Battery life is great and I run it twice a day. I love that it self empties and goes back to the charger when it is out of battery. Suction power is great too. The app Roborock app is easy to use, you can set up no-go zones and set up when you want the vacuum to run. For the money spent on this item you want it to be a quality piece and I can say without a doubt that I love this thing. I can’t imagine my life without it now because I have little boys and there are always messes in my home and this makes my life so much easier when I don’t have to manage the floor too!

Review of ROBOROCK Q Revo After 16 Months of Ownership
Review of ROBOROCK Q RevoOriginal Purchase Date: August 17, 2023Summary of Issues:Number of Returns:Four robot replacements from ROBOROCK and one repair by Asurion within the first 15 months of ownership.Specific Dates of Previous Returns:• October 2023: Replacement #1• January 2024: Replacement #2• April 2024: Replacement #3• August 2024: Replacement #4• November 2024: Repair (return #5) by Asurion as per the Multiple Device Protection Plan (Amazon subscription)• Current Issue (December 2024): Repair of the malfunctioning dock by Asurion has failed. On first operation on return of the robot to me, the mop fill feature of the dock failed again. This dock issue leading to repeated flooding of the floor was supposed to have been addressed by Asurion, and was declared fixed prior to shipping the machine back to me.Key Points Supporting Why I Would Not Recommend This ROBOROCK Model:1. Repeated Failures Demonstrate a Defective Product:• Each of the original and replacement Q Revo robots failed within a few months of receipt.• This consistent failure rate over 15 months is indicative of a systemic flaw in the product, not isolated or random incidents.• The observed trend of failure aligns with principles in science and statistics that identify repeated outcomes as evidence of an inherent defect.2. Cost Analysis Highlights Inefficiency and Impact on Customer Satisfaction:• Arranging for returns, repairs, replacements, and shipping every few months imposes unnecessary costs in terms of money and time.• The process causes significant frustration, time loss, and physical strain from the requirement to repackage and transport the failed robot and its dock to UPS for returns.• The weight of the packed robot and dock creates a physical challenge. No, ROBOROCK does not pay for the shipping labels with UPS pick-up. Thus, you must repack the machine (always keep original boxes for such items), wrestle the heavy and quite awkward box into your vehicle and then again into the UPS store. Have a nice day.• Loss of function means additional burden on the consumer to take over the function or be resigned to living with dirty floors until the machine is replaced or repaired (typically 3 to 4 weeks turnaround time).• Continued repairs or replacements are not practical or fair to the consumer.3. Request for Refund after Exhausting all Options:• Over the past 16 months, I have given the product as well as Roborock’s and Asurion's replacement/repair processes every opportunity to work.• Despite these efforts, the Q Revo has proven repeatedly unreliable.• Therefore, refund of the original purchase price is the most reasonable and equitable resolution. As I explained to Amazon customer support this morning, December 2024 marks my sixth request for assistance with this machine in, now, 16 months of ownership. Conclusion:Given the repeated failures, the observed trend of defects, and the continued inconvenience, I strongly recommend against purchase of this particular model from Roborock. The ROBOROCK Q Revo is a flawed model, which is my personal opinion based on my scientific observations of my experiences with it. Thankfully, I purchased this machine on Amazon, which has the best customer support services of any company that I’ve dealt with. Fortunately, for me, Amazon stands by it guarantees and with its customers.Final Note:I’m a simple shopper, like most people, looking for best products and deals in the most effective and efficient means possible. Unfortunately, there are reviews that do not reflect my miserable experience with this model, specifically multiple robots of this model over the past year and a half. How might it be possible that my experience with every one of these Q Revo robots that repeatedly failed (either robot or dock) be different from that of a bunch of influencers claiming they got this model as a gift and here’s their honest review…
