It's a blue based red tone. Old masters crimson fire is a bright, true red. I frequently mix the two to adjust either way. For instance , if I'd like a dark, dark cherry tone, that shows red in the light, I use more burgundy. If I want to see a red tone, but would like a blue base, I use crimson fire , add old burgundy , " to taste". Simply put: buy both

This dark walnut is brown. Not black at all

I don't see why it wouldn't. I used on fiberglass exterior door. Holding up just fine.
