Travel Smart: Reliable, Strong, Roomy Packing Cubes
I purchased six Thule compression cubes for a three-week international trip, and I couldn't be more impressed. These cubes performed exceptionally well, even under the pressure of being overstuffed. The zipper was sturdy and didn’t give out, a big relief considering how much I packed into each cube. I’ve compared these to top brands like Eagle Creek and some cheaper alternatives, but none matched Thule in fabric quality and compression effectiveness.Made from 100D nylon, these cubes have a strong, resilient material that is both durable and water-resistant. The “100D” refers to the denier, a measurement of fabric thickness, and in this case, the Thule cubes strike a perfect balance between durability and lightness. The fabric’s strength really stood out during my trip. One of the best features was how perfectly the cubes fit into my Thule Charm 70L bag. I was able to fit four fully packed cubes and still had room for shoes and a cosmetic bag at the top and sides, maximizing every inch of space. These cubes are on the pricier side, but they’re worth every penny. In my experience, no cheaper alternative has come close in terms of compression ability and overall quality.

Great item, well worth the price
These are great compression bags. Compared to some other brands, they zip up very easily to compress, even when they’re filled full. Solid construction and so far they’ve held up across multiple trips. In the future if I need more I will only buy these.

Best-in-class packing cubes
There are many different packing cubes that all seem to do the job. Why pay a premium for a name brand like Thule? Good question. In this case, my answer would be three things: quality of materials, quality of construction, and feature set. These Thule cubes are made of a high quality nylon material that feels both extremely sturdy and moisture proof. When one of my bottles of liquid spilled into my suitcase on a recent trip, my clothes in the Thule packing cubes remained completely clean and dry. There's another benefit as well. My recent trip was to India. I love India but the air is...pungent. When I returned home, my wife immediately noticed that even the ziplock bags I brought with me had absorbed an odor. But neither these packing cubes nor the clothes inside were affected. The other great thing about the material is its translucence. The product photos probably exaggerate it a little bit but you are able to tell what is inside a cube based on color and to a lesser extent shape. If an article of clothing is tight against the top, bottom, or side of the cube, it is easy to identify. (FWIW, the color of the cube is a creamy white.)The zippers and pulls on these cubes are robust and the seams are solid. This is important with a compression design that necessarily puts more stress on everything. I was surprised by how much these cubes held before they were compressed—much more than the older Eagle Creek cubes they are replacing—and how well they compressed their contents. It's worth noting that I did not roll the contents as Thule recommends. Instead, I placed the cube above my shirts and pants as I folded them. This allowed me to get the width exactly right. Then I placed the top of each item into the cube and folded them repeatedly to match the height of the cube. Even after compressing the contents, I was surprised at how wrinkle-free they were when I unpacked in my hotel room. These are the first packing cubes I have owned that compress their contents. This feature proved quite useful. I wouldn't buy another set without it. In the past, the lid of my suitcase has served to compress its contents. This is a much easier approach. The reason I bought these Thule cubes wasn't actually because of any of the things I have written about. It was because the dimensions of the Medium size and the Small size happened to fit perfectly together in my new suitcase. Everything else has been a great bonus. The bottom line is that I am delighted with these cubes and recommend them without reservation. In fact, my only concern is the way my wife has been eyeing them for herself...

Helps with organization and space - great cubes
Best packing cubes I’ve ever bought. They’re more expensive than some packing cubes but worth the money. Good quality like all Thule products. Compression feature really works and makes more room in suitcase.

Effective, well made
I have used packing cubes before, but not compression cubes. The 'packing' ones turned out to be pretty useless because I had better ways of bundling stuff in suitcases. These compression packs, though, are pretty great. The best size depends a lot on the trip. I found that the two sizes I have these in were both handy on my last trip. What I do usually is roll items up so the pack is pretty full, then zip closed, then do the compression zip. If I've done it right, the compression zip can be a bit of work. The zippers are strong though and when you get it zipped down, the contents are quite compressed. These seem well made and I expect to get a good number of trips out of them before they wear out.

Flexibility vs. Structure
These seem like good quality cubes and I love that the top piece opens fully, unlike many other compression cubes. The zippers also seem strong and smooth. However, these have what feels like a piped edge around the top that makes it not quite as flexible. This might be a small thing for some but for me it's important to be able to squish the packing cubes in my suitcase or backpack and that requires a little more flexibility around the edges than these allow. If you like more structure, these would be great. I just need flexibility over structure. Otherwise they are great.

Sturdy, heavy-duty material and zipper
Much sturdier than other small cubes. Great zipper, heavy-weight material that is unlikely to tear or rip.
