PATINA is a complex blend of natural oils, specialist resins and surface enhancing additives designed for use on all types of interior soft and hardwood timber structures and furniture, such as doors, window frames, skirting boards, dado rails, stair-rails, natural wood flooring, tables, chairs and most other fine timber fixtures and fittings found within a domestic property including quarry tiles & un-glazed ceramic surfaces. PATINA’S unique gel-like structure allows the applicator to achieve a penetrating and consistent finish on all types of timber surface, be it smooth veneer or a carved decorative stair rail. PATINA improves appearance, refreshes the natural wood colour and enhances the original grain structure of the timber returning it’s “as new” appearance. Unlike conventional wax and varnish type coatings, PATINA does not soak in to, or seals the timber surface. Rather it binds to the outer grain structure, forming a smooth even, water shedding outer layer, allowing the wood to breathe naturally whilst still performing as a protective and decorative finish. The effect of this action is to provide greater protection against damage to appearance from liquid spills, or when the surface is exposed to hot cups or plates etc. Can build from a matt to a mid-sheen finish, protecting against staining and wear. Conforms to : Dries to a clear finish Enhances grain structure replenishes oils in timber Provides a durable protective sheen finish Applied by sponge or cloth. Brings out the grain and detail in the wood (hence the name, patina) and protects it from everyday wear and tear. It is also microporous, so you don’t get the ring effect where hot mugs draw the moisture out the wood and leave a mark under French Polish.

Was sceptical but says what it does on the tin (Sorry Ronseal).......
I bought this after buying a table from John Lewis and reading about the product in a review of the table. The table is rough oak which is unfinished. I've used various oils and waxes in the past so was interested to see how this would work particularly as it is water and heat resistant. So the polish is jelly like in appearance. I used a lint free cloth to apply and I have to say it went on effortlessly, despite the roughness of the wood. I have now applied a second coat and I've only used about a third of the tin which I think is decent given the table. It is still a bit tacky and I will give it a wipe over just to remove any excess. But it really has lifted the table from looking quite dry to having a nice satin finish. Will see how it holds up over a few months of use, but so far I'm very impressed with this product,

Miraculous! Heat proof, water proof and hard.
This is a product I’ve used for years. Yes it brings out the beauty of wood but more than that the tin of magic finish can be applied with a rag and after 2 coats to wood you have a fully usable indestructible kitchen worktop. Always keeps tin handy.
