The media could not be loaded. The flap opens and allows for nearly unrestricted flow and doesn’t backup my basement utility sink drain like other models did. The seal is not 100% water tight- but it’s perfectly acceptable and will slow back flows to a crawl. I took a video to show it is nearly water tight when submerged in a cup. Exactly what I was looking for, flow was my number one concern and back flow prevention was a bonus and for me it checks both boxes.

There were no installation instructions tions. Don't see how it can prevent backflow due to the fact it isn't secured in the drain.

The media could not be loaded. Update: it only worked for 2 weeks or so then stopped closing. Once that happened the smell came right back. Two come in a box and the second one held up better but that one has failed too.So I questioned this item because it does not fit snuggly in the shower drain. But the red rubber at the top is just enough to stop all the odors from coming up from my shower. That saved me thousands because I didn't have to get a plumber to come reroute the plumbing so that the toilet would stop sucking the water out of the P trap and allowing the gasses to come up through the shower.

We rent our home, and the P-trap in the main shower stopped working, causing unpleasant sewer odors to seep into the house. I tried every backflow product I could find—most managed to block the odor but left me standing in ankle-deep water because they slowed the drain. This product, however, is a game-changer. It completely eliminated the sewer odors and kept the water flowing smoothly. Highly recommend it for anyone dealing with similar issues!Time will tell how long it lasts, I suspect I’ll have to replace it eventually once the magnetic valve wears out.
