superb handset
I own a couple of Wouxun radios, and they are superb quality. This was significantly cheaper, and came complete with an external mic and headphone clip. What I find incredible is that not only can you monitor and use two channels at once, one can be 2m , the other 70cm.I use these at sporting events where I need access to ambulance and amateur radio frequencies .Do yourself a favour and order a programming cable as well, and programme using CHIRP software. It is programmable to a wide frequency range very easily, even for use with repeaters on 2m and 70cm. It would also work on marine bandThis radio isnt listed but mine was recognised as another baofeng radio.Battery life was initially very poor indeed, but has improved with some charge discharge cycles.Ebay is the cheapest place for spare batteries and I would get a couple.Quality wise, I think the Wouxun may be a little better but it was far more expensive. The reverse text screen takes a bit of adjusting to - I think I quite like it now.All in all, a superb little unit.I could see professional users, amateur radio enthusiasts etc having great fun with these .The chipset seems to be a step ahead of the older baofeng radios and the price isnt much more, so I`d go for this.It feels good in the hand and looks really good with the contrasting colours. The antenna looks a bit lightweight (used to thicker rubber duckies) but it seems to work very well and doesnt heat up.In short great radio and fast delivery from Barsoom

This is a "no-brainer" - buy one now!
Bought this a couple of weeks ago and have been comparing it with a FT-60, which costs considerably more. As one would expect for the money, the BaoFeng doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" of a higher-end hand-held but its sensitivity (with the stock, hi-gain antenna) appeared to be similar to that of the FT60 (with stubby, stock antenna) and is a very cost effective way of getting on the amateur 2m and 70cm bands without much noticeable compromise. The only drawback for me is that there are only100 memories which limits the number of repeaters I will be able to store. I travel a lot outside the UK but usually take a laptop and so there's always the option of programming the radio en route, as required. Many functions are menu-set, including the squelch ie. there is no squelch knob. That said, mine is set to level 2 and it has worked perfectly; I've not missed the "front panel" variable squelch at all. From my experience, most hand-helds have comprehensive menu systems and whilst the BaoFeng's list is shorter than the FT-60, for me it covers all I need.I have programmed in some memories manually (whilst awaiting delivery of a programming cable) and found the process quite easy so long as you follow the instructions given on the excellent "www.miklor.com" web site. You will also find plenty of tips there, including a very comprehensive instruction pdf for the radio. This is a no-brainer - The GT-3 MKII is fantastic value for money - buy one now!!

BARGAIN !!!!
These are a bargain at this price - they also function well and are a good introduction to ham radio.

But a simplified book of instructions would’ve been nice!!
I have gone through the instructions with a tooth comb.. I have watched guidelines on YouTube.. I just get static when I use it!! Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t expecting direct contact with asgard, But a simplified book of instructions would’ve been nice!!

Nice
Nice kit at a good price. But worth paying a couple of pounds more and getting the programming cable too if you don't have one as it cannot be programmed manually. Works well.

not sure yet
I received this well before the estimated delivery date. Everything was as described and complete in the box. My only issue is with the product itself which seems not to receive as well as expected. I have a uvb6 model as well which I have found to be excellent. The gt3 model seems not to receive when the squelch is set to 0. And also bad reception on an external antenna which is fine with two other radios. But only having it A few days I have charged it fully and will give it A good test over the next week. I have only given it two stars as of yet , only down to this issue. The features and ease of use is good and for the money its very very good. If it receives.
