Green Kindle With My ADHD Brain
Having ADHD, I’ve had a really hard time getting into books in my adult life (I’m 26, female). I wanted to read more, so I bought a kindle hoping it would help me. I have now read 13 books in the last 6 months. Before, I had not read an entire book since I was 16.Don’t expect it to be like an iPad. It felt a little slow & glitchy until I got use to it (only when browsing. Not an issue, it’s just different). I have had absolutely 0 issues while I’m reading. It goes dark enough I can read at night without disturbing my spouse. I’ve read outside, in broad daylight, with zero glare. It’s light & really comfortable to hold. Not to mention, you can connect Libby to your amazing account. So I can rent books straight from our online library & read them right off the kindle. I’m not sure why it’s worked so well for my neurodivergent brain, but it has (being able to hold it with one hand, helps. It feels more comfortable).I was worried about getting the smaller size (I believe I just got the regular kindle. Not paper-white, signature edition, etc). But it’s been perfectly fine. I actually like that it’s a little bit smaller. Easier to lug around in a bag & to hold with one hand. All in all, the best purchase I’ve ever made. If you’re trying to get back into reading, it is a game changer!

Very pleasantly surprised!
I have to admit I was not sure I would be OK with a small screen. My husband reads his Kindle books on his phone and I just can’t. So I thought this was getting very close and had trepidation. However given the price point, I really wanted to give this newest Kindle a try for two reasons. Arthritis in my hands and travel.I use a mini iPad for most all of my Kindle reading, primarily because I love the page turning feature and like the option of being able to jump to other options—messaging or the Amazon app etc. if I just quickly want to, while reading. Also because I love full color for home page and certain art books and other selected books. However, while small, it is a bit heavy. This new Kindle is just right and light. I love it. I can put this in my purse and it’s not going to weigh it down. Something very important to me as well. It’s so slender too. I would get that clear cover though, that helps with the grip, and does not add to the thickness. The screen is so crisp. I am a 67 year old who has had cataract surgery but still have floaters. So the screen, brightness, crispness and the ability to comfortably hold the device is important to me. Knocked all of those out of the park as well. I can hold this thing for hours and even with arthritic hands not feel pain. I don’t need to rest it on anything while reading and that’s a game changer.I am of course aware I can change the font, but I didn’t want a screen so small I’d have to make the font so large I’d get only a paragraph per page. I find that this size is like a better, brighter paperback book where I can slightly tweak the font to perfection giving me that book experience which also is important to me.Page turning is instant. Perfect.Battery is a workhorse. Best yet. Hours later still at 90% which I have NEVER had on any device using it even with moderate use.The photo shows the size of my mini iPad on the left. So while the size difference isn’t that much, the weight is.I own other much older Kindles. A Kindle Fire. An IPad. And various other electronics including other digital readers I really like. For travel. For going to a Dr.’s appointment, for just taking this with, hands down, this is the best. I LOVE it and didn’t think I would so much! I love it so much I’m using it more and more around the house even though I prefer full-color on my home page and the page animation!

Recommended as a reading device. Compact, nice screen, lightweight, good battery life.
Moving up from reading on my cell phone Kindle app I decided to go with this device, since it is the smallest and lightest. My review after using about a month -- First, I don't have any desire to move to the larger Kindles since this one is so light, compact and portable. It fits in some pockets. Performance: slow processor, clunky and sluggish navigation through menus and library, but fast enough for its main use, reading. Battery lasts several days without charging. Page turning is fast, but sometimes if you don't pay attention and double tap you can jump ahead and without frequent bookmarks you can lose your place. The screen is much easier on the eyes than my cell phone. It is black and white, with no "blue-light reduction," but it is easy to adjust the brightness for different locations. It takes a little while to learn how to navigate the menu items. Conclusion: as a reading device it is 5 stars. Non-reading functions are 3 stars. But you buy it to read, so I Recommend It.

Didn’t Think I Needed It.... Totally Converted Now!!
I used to be firmly in the “I’ll just read on my phone” camp. But after using this Kindle? I’m a full-on convert. It’s crazy lightweight, and the design is super sleek, nothing bulky, nothing flashy, just simple and really nice to hold. Feels like it was made to disappear in your hands (in the best way). The screen tech is wild. Doesn’t strain my eyes at all, even after long reading sessions. No headaches, no glare—just easy reading that somehow feels like paper. There’s no color, but let’s be real… the books I read don’t need it anyway. As for audio quality, I did test out the Audible integration with Bluetooth, and it works great. No weird drops or tinny sound. Pairs easily and does what it’s supposed to do. If you like bouncing between reading and listening, it totally holds up.
