Q: Is this safe for 5 w30 synthetic oil

Yes. Ive used synthetic for years in my Tacoma and 4Runner. Both take 5w30 oil. As far as I know it compatible with any weight

Q: Oil is black after 15 miles is this normal? Just did a full synthetic oil change and the oil is black and smells of gas. Is this normal?

No engine is running rich or some other reason oil is getting in fuel. Fuel in oil. Change oil do not run engine until cause of fuel getting into oil is fixed. Oil diluted with fuel will not lubricate engine properly. Does oil level read over full?

Q: is this safe to use with older carborated engines?

yes because you add it to the oil, not the gas
