Forget the lifetime service agreement. This is a much better option
I have a couple of Ridgid 18 volt tools, including this drill model, that I like a lot. I've used this drill heavily for about 8 years and didn't have a single issue with it till now - the lever used for rpm range change broke. No problem; the drill has a lifetime service agreement - which is somehow different from a warranty. One thing that helped sell me on Ridgid was the lifetime service agreement (registration required), though it doesn't provide a replacement. What it provides is lifetime parts and service through many Home Depot stores. The catch is, you pay a $30 deposit up front to cover damage caused (in their opinion) by abuse, neglect, or anything else that is obviously due to your incompetence. But lacking those conditions, the deposit will be returned. At least that's what they told me. I'm certain it'll find its way home eventually, but I haven't seen the drill for 8 weeks. So although its an excellent drill, I can't do without it for 8 weeks (and counting). The R86008 for sale here is identical to my failed unit, took only 2 days to arrive, and will be a perfect backup for the next time my drill takes an extended vacation. Frankly, if I'd known about this $37 deal prior to sending the original for repair, I'd have just dropped it in a dumpster. The time and hassle I went through just to get the original on its way to service is worth more to me than the $37 I spent on this replacement - which by the way works perfectly and came with everything a new in-box unit does other than a battery or charger.

Definitely makes it easier to screw ;)
Item arrived on time and exactly as described. I used it the same day I got it and it worked flawlessly. Since it didn't come with a box or anything, I'm not sure if it can be registered for the lifetime warranty. However, for the price, I'm not too worried about it. The reason I purchased this one over one in the store was I recently had purchased a new battery and didn't want to spend the extra for a new battery, bag, charger etc when I didn't actually need all that - I already have it, ya know? I just needed the drill because my last one died after 7 years of occasional use (maybe once every 2-3 months, to varying degrees of intensity). Considering I barely know what I'm doing half the time, I felt that the last one held up quite well from being used by me, ha ha. So that's why I just wanted to get another one to go with the battery, charger, etc. that I already had. IF this drill doesn't hold up for a couple years, I will try to remember to come back and update this review and knock an appropriate number of stars off. For now though, I'm quite happy with it and no complaints.

Good compact general purpose drill.
I bought this (Ridgid Fuego R86008 18V Lithium Ion 1650 RPM Cordless Compact 2 Speed Drill / Driver) as a replacement for mine original that lasted for years. My original's clutch broke in "drill" mode. So when you would want to lock the clutch to drill it would slip sometimes when drilling through something tough. Good drill, lightweight compared to some other models. Rigid makes good stuff.

Great buy, strong drill.
This is the third Ridged 18 volt "R86008" drill I've purchased. It's not made any longer and I have three 18 volt battery's that are still good. The chuck, brushes, and clutch usually fail due to hard constant use. Well made and takes abusive use.

Love the drill that works with my older Ridgid batteries ...
Love the drill that works with my older Ridgid batteries that still have life. I will say the bolt that keeps the horizontal handle add on does not match the thread so as to install. No big deal since I do not use it but some of you may.

I ordered this one as a replacement for a refurbished ...
I ordered this one as a replacement for a refurbished drill I bought 2 years ago. I've owned several different brands of cordless power tools, including Dewalt, and found Ridgid to hold a charge longer than any of the rest. The fact that the batteries will interchange with their older tools is also a plus. These are dependable, hard working tools.
