This telescoping pole works great for my bat house.
My friends bought me a bat house and I purchased this pole to put it on. This pole is telescoping and easy to raise and lower. The reason for this review is not just to tell you how great it is, but to give you some installation assistance as this was a trial and error thing for me. If I had thought the entire process through, it would have come out right the first time. I want to point out that I had the trellis there before installing the pole, and that made it easier to stabilize it. My first suggestion is to read the installation instructions at least once and twice if needed. The first thing I didn't think about was the direction the bat house would face if I put the pole in the ground a certain way. I wanted it to face South. I wasn't thinking it would make a difference if I just put the post in the ground and pay attention to how it was placed. Well...First off, it is a triangular pole. I'm used to dealing with square poles or round poles. Those are easy to figure out, but I had never put a triangular pole in the ground, so I didn't really think about it. I just put it in the ground. Ultimately, the direction I wanted the bat house to face has to be one of the flat sides of the triangle. My first attempt had it facing Southwest, and it was behind the trellis which made it almost impossible to raise the bat house. So, I dug it up and redid it with the flat side facing south and on the other side of the trellis. The first go around I tried to get it level, but it ended up leaning a little to the left, so the second time around, I attached it to the Bougainvillea trellis shown in the picture. I wired it in place once it was leveled and then after the concrete dried, I used plumber strap to strap it to the trellis. I did that more for stability than anything else. We just went through 2 hurricanes(Helene and Milton) and I wanted to make sure it would still be standing with the next hurricane. Finally, I had to rethink the plastic bracket that attaches to the bat house. The bat house had 2 screw holes to mount to the plastic mount. I couldn't mount it in the middle of the mount and I didn't like offsetting the mount as it looked like it wouldn't be as strong, so I decided to cut a 2x4 the length of the mounting bracket and attach the 2x4 to the bat house with the 2 screws. Then I attached the mounting bracket to the 2x4 using 4 screws. I also didn't like that the mounting bracket didn't have a cap to keep the water out of the telescoping pole, so I cut out a triangle from a scrap piece of 1/8 inch plywood and used silicone to attach it to the top of the mounting bracket. I let it dry and then spray painted it all black just so it wouldn't weather as quickly. It took me a couple of days to do all of this, but in the long run, I feel like it was worth it. Overall, this was a good buy.

EZ INSTALL
Very easy to install. Only complaint is that is sways in the wind. Not a lot, but it definitely moves when the wind blows. I used plumber's putty to seal off the top of the pole(a common complaint I see in these reviews).

Great product but can't use because too close to power lines.
The product looks great, but unfortunately I'm going to have to return it. After opening the package there was a warning not to place within 50 feet of power lines. My son and i measured it out and the best we can do is 30 feet and it puts it right on top of my gas lines. I didn't notice this warning on the website before ordering, only on the product. just letting others know so you can plan ahead.

Easy Install and Fun waiting
I had this up in just a few hours, concrete the base in. I am still waiting for my first bat, but I think it's just a matter of time. Be patient. It can take up to 2 years I think.

triangular shape and heavy metal ensures stability.
I am very confident in this pole system holding up my new owl house. Heavy weight aluminum in a no-bend triangular shape. It goes up to about 15 feet. In order to adjust the height beyond the two pre-drilled holes (pins supplied) you may want to drill another hole and use the supplied pin with no compromise in strength. It came with a plastic sleeve to be encased in concrete, but I used the "American Ground Screw Model 3 (also available on Amazon) which was very, very sturdy and easier than pouring concrete.

This works
I bought this for a purple Martin house. The instructions were helpful and it all went together just fine.I will buy another one when I get a bat house.

Needed cement
When ordered nothing was mentioned about needed to cement pole in the ground. Only realized this when I was starting to mount the pole. So far pole is still not mounted.
