These hands cut rasp are made by Narex Bystrice of the Czech Republic who has been in the business of making premium edge tools for over a century. Cabinet makers rasps are generally used for shaping work and can remove a lot of material quickly and leave a smooth surface. These rasp blades are drop-forged and then carefully ground to final shape. The teeth are carefully stitched by hand to a uniform height, but with a slightly irregular pattern. This allows the rasp to cut quickly yet leave an even surface with no scratch pattern. Blades are stitched right to the edge to allow working in tight corners. This rasp will work equally well with both right and left handers. In cross-section, the blade is curved on the top and flat on the back. Blade are 10” long. Handles are 5-1/2” x 1-3/8” round and made from dense European Hornbeam. Overall lengths are 15-1/2”. Blades are 1-1/8” at their widest and taper to 3/4”.

A Joy to Use
I've been a woodworker for many years, and this is one of those tools I wish I'd purchased long ago. I've had other rasps which I would use occasionally and then only when I had to and then wasn't satisfied with the performance. This tool is much more expensive, but the performance is also much, much better. I've used this a lot more since I've had it than I probably used any rasp in the last 20 years. I have to admit that it is so nice to use, I've been looking for reasons to use a rasp more. I did cut and paste this from my other rasp purchase, but the same applies to both.

Cuts well without excessive effort
Of my several rasps, this is the next to best. It is a good purchase at a fair price.

Hand stitched is the only way to go
Works well for the price. Way better than machine made.

My second best rasp
its not a bad rasp, but my "go-to"rasp is a Nicholson $50 Pattern Makers rasp I bought nearly 20yrs ago.
