Does the top screw into the leg? I need the table to be stable. Is it?

It does not screw in, you just plant it in. It's kind of flimsy

does the leg screw into the bottom. what makes it secure intovthe bottom?

I wouldn't purchase this table. It's very cheaply made and isn't very secure at all. We actually had to jimmy the base to make it more secure. We ended up putting it out in the garage for the next garage sale lol

Is the base for this table is too big? Looks hard to sit close to the table, 2 of 4 stool legs would ride up on the base and tilt your stool.

No, it's not too big of a base at all. We have two padded saddle stool's and we can slide them as far in as two inch's away from the center pole (when we are not seated). When you are in them, you'll be farther away naturally so, the fit is great, the leg's don't hit when we sit. We love this table!
