ChefLand Lettuce Crisper Keeper, Lettuce Saver Container

We used our old lettuce keeper way too long. It was probably a Rubbermaid or similar and was well over 25 years old. I suspected the lid was not sealing well for a long time. We got this thing and the lettuce was so crisp, we realized we should have thrown out the old one at least 10 years ago.Those that complain of it being too large are right. It claims a large amount of real estate in the fridge. We couldn't use it right away because right after Christmas the fridge was too full of ham, turkey and other leftovers. But with our old keeper, the lid would not fit on with most heads until we used some of it. This one holds the whole head.I also agree with those that say it feels flimsy. When you snap on the lid, it feels cheap. So I don't think it will probably last 25 years, but it really works.We are only on our 2nd head of lettuce. On the first head we used the pointed "stand" we saved from the old keeper that you stick the head on and set it in the bottom of the keeper. The head was so crisp and did not brown on the bottom for weeks. This time we did not use the stand and I notice a lot more browning on the bottom. It could just be the head. I'll have to test multiple times to know if we need to keep using the old stand or not. Overall very pleased.

Lettuce lasts so much longer when properly stored! First impression was that it was a little underwhelming constructed (a bit cheap), but in the end it really does what it promises and at the price you cannot go wrong. It is, of course, too large to fit in your crisper drawer so it does take up some room. I keep a sheet of paper towel in with the lettuce to absorb the excess moisture and change it occasionally when I eat lettuce. Keep lettuce up to two weeks.

This is one great product. When I opened the package I thought that it was much too cheaply made to be effective. However, because of the low cost I knew that I would net very little after paying return shipping, so I decided to give it a try. I removed the core from a head of lettuce,rinsed it and let it drain for a few minutes, then put it core-side down in the crisper. I used lettuce from it three or four times a week for two weeks (since I generally only cook for myself). Now I'm going on the third week and what's left of the lettuce is still extremely crisp, with only slight rusting on the very bottom edges of the leaves. Easily works as well as the Tupperware crisper I had a few years, and which cost almost four times as much. I'm amazed and very pleased.

This product works very satisfactorily. The only minor flaw is when it is handled, the seal opens a little too easily suggesting it isn't a tight seal. However, this has not affected the function of the product. It keeps my lettuce crispy for weeks at a time, so I'm happy with it. I like the fact it is slightly larger than crispers I have had in the past, since I can now put the larger leafy lettuces in the container. Spacewise, it fits in the same place in my fridge as previous crispers. Overall, good basic product.

The lettuce in the photo must be as big as a basketball. Great idea but this doesn't fit well anywhere in my fridge without some interference. The idea is to save the lettuce after it is opened and used, so the head is even smaller. I usually buy larger heads of lettuce too. The product does keep the lettuce fresh, but at the expense of fridge space. It could be much smaller and work just as well.

I had high hopes, but sadly even my low hopes were not met. For starters, this thing if waaay too big! Takes up far more room than it should. The lettuce kept for about five days, which is two days shy of what I was getting using a gallon ZipLoc bag. I'm sorry I bought it, and it's heading to the recycle bin.

It is good for storing lettuce, with the exception that it is too high. The lettuce fits in the bottom of the container perfectly and it would be wonderful if the lid only had a small curved lid. Instead the lid is half the size of the bowl. It doesn't fit on any of my refrigerator shelves. I had to rearrange my entire refrigerator so I could lower a shelf for it to fit. Extremely inconvenient! Now I have a lot less storage space in the refrigerator.

I bought this with a skeptical mind thinking I was probably wasting my money, but I was pleasantly surprised that it actually works. I used to keep my lettuce in a large Tupperware container but I would be lucky if it lasted a week before it turned brown. This keeper keeps in fresh for at least two weeks, I haven't had a head of lettuce last any longer than that, because its all gone by then, so I cant say how much longer it would last. I just wash the head of lettuce and shake dry and leave it just a little damp and put it in this keeper and tear off what I need as I need it. and it stays good until I use it all which is around two weeks.
