Does this device prevent side to side tipping or just front/back?

This device is amazing. After my daughter tipped a chair and ended up in the ER I both got these for all of our bar stools. The chair cannot be tipped from any direction. It is a striking safety improvement.

Does this product work on carpet?

We currently use it on a tile floor and find it very useful. I believe it would be fine on carpet. The bottom of the product is a completely flat surface. If your child pushes against another object, like a table or counter, I could see the potential for tipping on carpet. Whereas when our child pushes back with this product in place the whole chair just slides back

Can someone still easily slide chair out and scoot forward to table?

Yes. An adult can move the chair.
