Much brighter than original Nissan Micra sidelights
I bought these for a Nissan Micra which has dim yellow sidelights. These Philips WhiteVision Ultra W5W are much brighter lamps (bulbs are things you plant in the ground!).Despite being blue in physical appearance, they do light up bright white and will make my partner's grey car easier to see in the winter in low light conditions. You simply pull the old ones out of the lamp holder and push the new ones in. Don't forget to wipe your invisible natural fingerprint oil off them before activating them to test them, as being halogen lights this oil can cause the lamps to overheat and reduce lifespan. I can't speak to actual longevity but they are a good brand. These lights were good value for money too.If you do happen to be installing these in a similar car (Nissan Micra Mark III), be warned they are challenging to reach behind the headlight units to access and lock/unlock, so my quick tip is to undo the 2 small bolts that hold each light unit securely into the car and then you can wiggle the light unit free just enough so that it tips up at the top end (where you need access tot he rear of the unit to change the lamp). Then you can more easily get your fingers in to tighten the lamp holder back into place after fitting the lamp and it clicks into place.

The star that burns twice as bright...
These bulbs are excellent! They have a nice whiter light (not perfect white but halogen can't really ever be perfect white), and they are insanely bright. They aren't the longest lasting bulbs but thats to be expected from such a powerful bulb. I had a pair of these in my old car and they lasted roughly 18 months before giving up the ghost. Personally thats worth it to have such a bright safe light in the dark. They were easy enough to install but thats on a car by car basis. On my golf they're easy to get in, once you've removed half the front of the car and have the headlights out on a bench. You can't go wrong buying these bulbs. One word of caution though, when installing a halogen light, try to avoid touching the glass portion of the bulb as grease from your fingers decreases their life span. I used latex gloves while fitting mine.

If you're buying side lights, they're quite white. H7 and HB4 ain't as white.
UPDATED - below is the review from day time, THIS WILL BE THE REVIEW FROM NIGHT TIME.For some reason at night the Hb4 is brightest out of all three bulb types. Not sure why but that's the way they are. The Hb4 at night is super cool white for a halogen bulb. So I will give it a 4 star rating. Not bad at all, just a little yellow in day as seen in image.I bought the Phillips ultra white matching set in three bulb types.Side lights (w5w)Dipped beam (H7)Fog lights (HB4)DAYTIMEThe image provided will show the side lights and fog lights on. It's a sunny brights day, perfect for showing how they hold up. Out of all looking for a 'cool/white colour' via halogen, and not going LED, the side lights doesn't do too bad, but the fog are clearly not as white. At night I assume they'll be brighter but this was just a quick review as I was expecting better. The H7 ain't as white as sides either. For what I've paid, next time round I'm going to try osram.

Good upgrade for a Volkswagen Transporter
Fitted a set of these to my Volkswagen Transporter (2013 T5.1) - they were a doddle to fit. They are certainly an upgrade over the stock bulbs, but don't expect miracles - these are not Xenon or LED levels of brightness and the colour to my eyes is off white (I have LED bulbs fitted in the DRLs and they are pretty close, but different). I was a little disappointed with the brightness when dipped. They are however excellent when on full beam.Longevity remains to be seen but I have done several evenings of long motorway drives so far without problems.

Failed after 10 months
Yellowish in color. Failed after 10 months of use (I did about 8,000 km). I don't think it is worth the price.

Not white - misleading claims
This review is for the HB3 fitment, installed on a 2019 Honda Civic.I bought these bulbs to compliment the LED day time running lights and low beam LEDs (also Philips). Unfortunately, whilst I realistically did not expect these to match the colour temperature of the above, which are typically around 6000K, they are actually slightly more yellow than the standard fit Sylvania 'basic' bulbs supplied with the car, with no noticable improvement in projection distance either. As such, this product feels like an expensive downgrade on the previous set up.The problem lies wholly in Philips misleading marketing, which claims 4200K for their WhiteVision Ultra series, unfortunately, if you examine the small print (not covered on Amazon) this only applies to their H7 and H4 fitments. Actual technical data (again, buried deeply within the Philips website), only states 'up to 3800K', which given the overly warm colour of the bulbs, I would say is not even close.Overall, I'm dissapointed to say the least and will give Philips automative products a wide berth in future.
