Where does the Chaff go? Does it not burn in the cylinder and effect the coffee's flavor?

Some of the chaff goes out with the steam and smoke, but most remains inside and comes out with the roasted beans. I pour the beans between two colanders or strainers and let the breeze take the chaff away as the beans fall. I would imagine you could pour out onto a cooking tray and blow it away with a fan. Some of the chaff remains in the cylinder and should be wiped out before the next roast, but I don’t always do that and never have an issue with burning chaff. BTW, the cylinder gets too dark to see the beans after a few roasts and has to be cleaned - I use Bon Ami cleanser and a green 3M scrubber. Cafiza doesn’t work on the roasted tars the way it works on coffee machine tars.

What temperature range to roast at?
