This thermometer was highly rated in Consumer Reports, and we were able to find it on Amazon for a good price.It is easy to use and read and appears very accurate (especially in ear mode). The screen changes color when you run a temperature. I would highly recommend it.

With COVID around for the foreseeable future, I decided that having a faster way to take my temperature before I go out would be helpful. This does the job, and at a good price. Results display in maybe a second. Removing the outer cover automatically puts the unit in ear mode. In forehead mode, the closer the tip to the forehead, the greater the accuracy. Pressing a button with the cover on switches between adult and infant forehead modes and surface mode. With the cover off, pressing the button will switch between adult and infant modes. Another button switches between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Compared against a digital oral thermometer I’ve used for some time, this tends to run about half a degree warmer. I have no way of knowing which device is more accurate, but this certainly works well enough to tell me if I’m running a fever.

My initial review of the product is 4 Stars. A major contributor in us owning this is the fact that this was an HSA eligible item, associated reviews, and cost. We have been using it for right at a week now with our newborn and readings appear to be pretty consistant, in that they are not unreasonably out of range when measuring the same object back to back, very important to the function of a digital thermometer. It’s easy to pick up and use and comfortable in the hand. I appreciate the storage sack and having batteries included helps as well when your buying everything under the sun for your first child.

So glad I selected this! After hours (slight exaggeration) of looking for the right one, I found the Alcèdo. I can check the temp touchlessly in the ROOM, the BATH, my CUP, and in ME. Provides a secure grip and is designed so your thumb has easy access to controls. No kids in this house, but has the ear probe option as well. I would recommend this thermometer to my best friend.

Product stopped working after 15 months. I went to the website to try to troubleshoot, but it did not have any helpful information or anything that worked. It either says temperatures are really high or really low. I would not buy again.

Bought this as needed, couldn't find my thermometer for ear readings and one of my twins was obviously feverish. Initial use was very cool, I like that this changes functions automatically when you take off the forehead guard. I also love that I don't have to buy an extra filter for an ear reading.That being said the forehead and ear readings were wildly different. My baby was obviously feverish, noticeable by touch as well as temp taken with this via ear and underarm with a standard thermometer. The forehead reading was 3 or more degrees different every time and changed with distance, 1-3cm like recommended in the manual. While the ear function was more accurate it also had varying readings in the same ear taken multiple times in the span of a few minutes, some as different as 2 degrees. It's fine in a pinch, to use if I am thinking about giving a fever reducer, but not what I would use to base the decision to take my child to the ER for a fever or not.

This is my first non-contact thermometer so I was a little confused on how to use it. So press the button once to turn it on if it is off, then press the button a second time for one second then release holding it 1-2 inches away from your forehead, then after a second it should beep showing the temperature.Don't hold the button down for too long. just follow my advice.On the side you will find the rest of the control buttons, the icons are very intuitive and the device is very easy to operate.
