The Beatles aren't back; they never went away!
What's to say other than it's the Beatles! It's great to have some insight into the let it be album. Everyfamily has there moments, but it was nice to see you that it wasn't all gloom, like the movie 'Let it Be'. I saw the documentary that goes with the book and I don't recall any of them raising their voices to each other so how bad could it really be. Love the insights on how they worked and how the lyrics the songs evolved just by everybody throwing stuff out there. I have done some songwriting and one of the things that's always the toughest for me is the lyrics... But I never had three other guys that through lines at me until I found someone to fit. I love when John Lennon was trying to help George with the song Something, "something in the way she moves attracts me like a pomegranate". Hilarious! There's a reason that they are the Beatles and we are all everybody else.Greatest musical group of all time hands down!

Inside Beatles different than inside baseball.
This is the story of how civil the Beatles were to each other during their breakup. Ostensibly rehearsing for a live show, which they discuss and argue about ad nauseam, Michael Lindsay-Hogg was granted access to film a promotional documentary for a live performance of songs from Let It Be. No wonder he threw his hands up and left it to a director who would be born a year later. Paul admitted he’s at his best when under pressure, during this short period they wrote not for one album but two. Astonishing that Abbey Road was recorded weeks later. Obviously performing songs from their youth was preferable to trying to perform the White Album, this is them recording an album that was as close as the Beatles ever got to standard, despite Let It Be, Across The Universe, and others. It’s clear in the dialog that Paul wanted Let It Be a step back to the musical simplicity of their roots. They had more fun breaking up than most successful bands had in their lifetimes. What I hated was not getting the lobby cards through Amazon.

Makes for a perfect Christmas gift!
Last year I ordered this for my mom as a Christmas present! She's a huge fan of the Beatles, so she really loves it!

Beautiful book
I purchased this hardcover book for my husbands 77th birthday mainly because he likes the Beatles and he watched the tv special by the same title. This book is nicely illustrated and includes the dialog and great photos from that tv special. At 240 pages long its the official account of the creation of their final album LET IT BE told in the Beatles’ own words and illustrated with hundreds of photos never seen before. The book opens in January 1969, the beginning of their last year as a band. If you’re a Beatles fan you HAVE to get this book! It will also make a great coffee table book and great conversation starter.

Beautiful Beatles Book
Yes, this WAS worth waiting for! Callaway have done a superb production job with this book, it's not a cheap "any-old-thing-will-do" book, it will grace any bookshelf. The content is just fine, including the essays that were not necessary for the 1969 edition! The transcripts are slightly different too, a little more sweary, but that's a true portrait. Some of the original text has been omitted too.The pictures are fab. Others say blurry, I'd say grainy, just as they were originally. The price is reasonable too, especially those of us who pre-ordered!So glad to have this beautiful book to compliment my original Get Back book which fell to pieces years ago. This one won't suffer the same fate.
