Loaded with Inspiration and Information. Great Book!
I've been avidly trying out this chalk paint craze as we're redecorating our seasonal home but have avoided buying any books because I figured I could find whatever I needed on Pinterest. I was finally tempted to buy this book and am I glad I did. It goes into so much more detail than any info I have found in the hours I have spent on Pinterest. I'm fascinated by the way the colors combine and this book has opened up a whole new understanding of Annie Sloan chalk paint as well as inspiring me to try new ideas. I can't wait to get started on my next piece! I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting information and inspiration on chalk painting. It's amazing the things you can do with this paint. Thank you Annie Sloan.

Project Inspiration
It took me a bit to warm up to this book because of its deceptively simple project presentations. One of the nice things about this Annie Sloan book is she provides ideas while giving you technical information you need with projects that make you feel you could be at least as successful from the start, which is terrific teaching and inspiration. The ideas and methods presented allow you to pull your own projects together. Well presented material with can-do attitude development for the reader. I also have to say between the specific colors, the paint characteristics and qualify of her tools, Annie Sloan provides a lot to those purchasing her products to ensure success without stress. Its great knowing bit by bit if you've only got a few minutes here and there, you will see your project through with pleasing results.

Colour recipes make painting more fun
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is a handy book for when you want to do some creative paint mixing. She gives 40 projects, some of which are unlikely to be suitable for US houses, but are a pleasure to read about. You can use her techniques to transform a piece of furniture no one else would give a second look. The ASCP is expensive, so making new colors is a real plus. There is Annie Sloan's own color wheel, using her colors and techniques. Including the warm/cold color theory for decorating. She paints a chair before taking off the old upholstery, demos faux marble, stenciled walls, and painted floors, & shows how to put colors together in a room, and HT dye fabric using her paint, among the many projects. This is a good book that answers the questions you might have. Her own house in France gets the paint-over and my only complaint is that she made me want a house in France of my own.

Really fun ideas
Fun book that makes somewhat complex approaches seem really possible, but not enough projects in the book for the price, especially since so much project info is available online. That said, I do really like her repeated approach of saying she tried something, didn't like it, so tried something else until she got what she liked. That liberating idea alone (to keep working the materials--the paints, basically) might actually be worth the price of the book. The images are gorgeous and definitely left me wanting more. Made me really see why chalk paint can achieve some truly worthwhile results, and made me realize that I wanted to start from this position of being willing to work in more complex ways (with multiple colors in layers, some watered down, maybe some color mixing) in order to achieve a unique, deeply loved, durable dining table.

Pretty book, not worth the money
This is a lovely book with beautiful illustrations, but in my opinion there wasn't enough about the actual mechanics of using the paint. For example, after I completed my project I found out that Annie Sloan recommends turning the unopened paint can upside down for 30 minutes before using so the solids can be more easily mixed back into the paint. This is the sort of information I was hoping for with this book and it really wasn't there. The material about combining paint to make new colors was interesting, especially since the basic chalk paint color options are somewhat limited. I gave the book to my sister-in-law, who is a graphic artist and painter, and her comment was, "it's intimidating." I wouldn't recommend spending the money on this book. It makes more sense to seek out the (free) information available on the net provided by folks who have actually used the paint.

Lovely pictures & Great ideas and instructions
I am new to chaulk paint so I wanted to read about it before I try my hand at it so I bought this and "Creating the French Look". I thought I would like the french book more but I was wrong. This was is much more of a step by step book. I will be using this when I get ready to start my first project.

More Inspiration and Paint Mixing Ideas
I bought this book for the information on color mixing of Annie Sloan paints. It has a detailed section which uses the colors within that line of paints showing them on a color wheel and then breaks down how to mix those colors and produce other colors and shades of paint. Twelve pages are devoted to just the color wheel and mixing paints. Very informative and useful for someone that has not used a color wheel extensively.
