An excellent choice for narrating and interviews
This is a very good quality product that comes with a range of useful accessories including a Rycote mount, two connecting cables, a ‘dead cat’ wind cover and a foam cover, all supplied in a high quality case.I used the mic on a small table tripod stand and the shock mount, to test its quality against the supposed three studio quality mics in a new £3k MacBook Pro 16. The Movo won hands down on unedited clarity and presence for narrating work. However, the MBP probably has a flatter frequency response, therefore needs post processing to lift it. I have done that on previous occasions to good effect. For a quick, unedited interview or narration the Movo is an excellent choice and I look forward to doing field work with it and my iPhone in a stabilising filming frame plus a large tripod. As an update I used it for a couple of days to interview students in a workshop. I was about 2 m away and can confirm the mic picked them up perfectly as well as picking me up from close by the side, albeit it at a relatively lower volume because the mic is supercardioid i.e. forward directional. It is a bargain and made of metal too.

Beats others at this price-point.
This appears to be a competent mic. I've gone through a succession of shotgun, cartoid, wireless and other mics around this price point with varying degrees of success but there's always been issues that have needed some post-production tweeks. One magnified my breathing and swallowing, others had too much background hiss, others operated at too high a volume and so on. This was my last attempt before I'd have to spend some mega money on a pro mic.I'm very pleased with it. Background hiss is minimal and easily dealt with. The recording volume is good and the mic gives a good balance across bass and higher ranges. With outside recording it performs well and the wind muffler combined with the included dead cat is very effective. If you're on a budget, I reckon this mic will do the job better than most.

Crisp Audio Upgrade – A Beast for the Price
Plugged into our camera rig and instantly noticed the difference—clean, directional audio and zero fuss setup. The shock mount is legit, and the deadcat windscreen does the job outdoors. Sounds like a mic double the price.

Poor shock mount contraption and terrible customer service
The 'rycote' mount they supply with this mic is extremely difficult to snap on and off with its stiff jaws, you have to do it at an angle and it appears you may break it. If you're filming alot at functions and events like I do, you don't want to be struggling trying to affix this when you need to get footage within seconds and then struggle when you have to pack everything away again afterwards. Also note the mount they supply with this is different to the one in their photos, it has twin jaws instead of one so its doubly difficult to snap onto both jaws!On top of this, the audio sounded no better than the on-board camera mic, its good but not that good, you want a somewhat full sound and it still sounded tinny and amateur even after playing with the mono-stereo settings in post to try and work with it. Bought a more expensive mic from another brand and the difference is night and day so you get what you pay for especially if you need your footage to sound passable I would advise to look elsewhere.Tried to contact MOVO customer service and didn't receive a response until I wrote again that I was returning this for refund. They offered a free replacement so as I already bought a replacement mic I opted for the wireless WMX-1 mic. When I eventually came to use it for filming there were some connection issues and the batteries needed to be taken out and reinserted before each use which is bizarre. The product came unsealed and I suspect they 'fobbed me off' with a customer return product. Whats the point of offering a free replacement only to send a dud product? Contacted MOVO again asking if I can replace this again and they want me to pay for its return to USA! So no thanks. Will not be buying from MOVO again.

Love this
Such a good mic, I use this on my Sony ZVE10. Clean low end and great for male female vocals. Highly recommended.. good clean sound, low noise floor. Thought it might be bad for sybalance but, I don't have a problem nore does it peak haphazardly .. all in all it's a great mic for the price..

Headphone socket only works with phone and app
The monitoring headphone socket is a bit misleading - does not work with headphones directly, instead you need to attach to mobile phone and use an app on phone to monitor, and then phone speaker or headphones.I like the case included and seems to work on my Olympus camera - yet to try outside with attachments for dealing with wind noise. May post another review once tried this out.Instructions are too brief, but Movo support is excellent at responding quickly to questions.Responses:Q1) I can't get headphones to work with the headphone socket.Live monitoring can only be used with smartphones and you will need to use an app with an audio monitoring feature as for other devices, the port can only be used to listen to playback sound.Q2) Can you explain what you mean by “the port can only be used to listen to playback sound” as that does not sound like live monitoring.- Live monitoring can only be used with smartphones with an app that has a live monitoring feature such as the SmartRecorder app. If you're using other devices, live monitoring isn't available but you can listen to playback audio from the headphone port.Q3) What apps should I look for Android? (note: I have Samsung android phone not iphone)You can use the SmartRecorder App by Saramonic.
