Well made. Fairly aggressive razor. Gives a very good shave if you have solid technique. A real bargain.
First I want to say that the seller did a great job of delivering this fast. This is a well made, beautiful looking razor. It's an aggressive razor that works well for those of us who are used to using double edged razors. It's not a beginners' razor. I coupled it with a Rapira Swedish Steel blade, (an average sharp blade) and Arko shave soap. I also used a pre-shave oil.The razor delivered a baby smooth shave. I had a day and a half of beard growth. For many men mine looks like five days, so it had a lot to do! Three passes; WTG, XTR, and AGT and some chin and jaw line touch up did the job.I find aggressive razors with sharp blades produce less razor burn and irritation than milder razors if you have a tough beard. Fewer passes are needed with an aggressive razor. But if you have poor technique or are coming to DE shaving from the cartridge world than this razor will be a challenge for you, and you will probably get a lot of nick and weepers.Conversely, you will quickly develop good technique with this razor. if you are experienced, this is a great product and very reasonably priced. I'm certain that this is the Fatip Grande razor handle, but coupled to a head that in my experience is smoother and more efficient than the Fatip Grande and Piccolo I own one.It feels about as aggressive as my Merkur 37C slant, perhaps a little more. Much more than a Parker 26C open comb. Not all open combs are aggressive. I have a Phoenix double open comb that is the mildest shaver I own. In fact too mild for me, as I can never get a really close shave with it.I subsequently had further shaves, I coupled the razor with a Rapira Platinum Lux, used an Arko shave cream and it delivered a baby smooth shave with no irritation. This is a razor I'm very happy with,I shaved again with this this time pairing it with a Super-Max Super Platinum (made in India) blade. Who said east and west could never meet?! This pairing delivered a baby smooth shave, with no nicks, cuts or weeper. Extremely comfortable. I had no trouble shaving my neck, jawline and chin glass smooth with no irritation. Just about zero feedback from the alum block.I recommend this razor without hesitation to anyone who knows what they're doing and wants a close shave, or those who want to experiment with open comb razors if they are now using a closed comb. For this price it's hard to go wrong, and it's cheaper than the Fatip Grande!

Very Nice Razor!
The razor is beautiful in so many ways. Great color, perfectly weighted and the blade alignment is spot on. The finish is very rich and shiny but appears uneven with slight spotting or bubbling that makes the metal not so smooth in some areas. The bottom cap has sharp edges that are noticeable but do not affect the performance. The shave it provides is very efficient with some skill needed to find the correct angle to avoid razor burn or abrasion. The shave is very smooth and not severely aggressive. I have used Feather, Rapira Swedish Super Steel, and Wilkinson Classic blades and all have performed well in this razor. I would not recommend this razor for a person new to double edge shaving but anyone with basic skills should love this razor. The price of $23 was a definite selling point and makes this razor a true bargain.

Beautifully crafted but a bit on the light side. Gold finish poor
Beautifully crafted. Just a bit on the light side for me or it would have got 5 stars. It is 2g lighter than my Merkur 34g. Both have hollow handles but this just lacks weight. It could have been spectacular! Shame. Furthermore after 18 months gold finish is significantly worn. Whereas my Merkur remains flawless after 4 years...

A fine razor
Having used this razor for over a month now, I can easily say that I'm incredibly satisfied with my purchase. After looking around for on Amazon for nearly a week after my first safety razor broke, scouring through countless makes and models and comparing them, I settled on this one. I chose gold. For me, one of the selling points is that it is made of plated brass and not relatively fragile pot metal, the hot dog filling of the metal world. Plus, I was curious about open combs. Although it is fairly lightweight due to the hollow handle, it definitely has more heft than my previous Van Der Hagen/Weishi twist-to-open. It seems to be of high quality and the fit and finish is immaculate. It cuts through my thick, coarse stubble without the slightest hint of a struggle. Some have stated that this razor is too aggressive. Although I do agree that it is a very efficient cutting design, I personally don't see the issue. If you take your time and simply drag the razor across your skin in short strokes without any added pressure from your hand, you should be fine. It takes a little time, as with any safety razor, however the open comb means less time rinsing, so I'd call it a fair trade-off.All in all, this is an excellent razor.

Excellent razor
The razor is better than a closed safety bar razor. I've yet to nick myself with this, though I've nicked myself with my Dorco USA model that I used prior to receiving this item. This item is better than the Dorco closed bar razor head in every respect except that it does not have a silo door construction. But, I was unable to find a manufacturer that uses a silo door constructed safety razor with open tooth design. Because you can feel the razor's location on this head, you are by default safer, as you know exactly how much pressure is being exerted and where on the skin it is being exerted. If you're trimming around beards or other facial hair you will know exactly where to cut. Spend the extra money and buy the gold model; it makes you feel like a high roller.

A comfortable razor, on the mild side
A comfortable razor, on the mild side. Good weight and balance. The main negative is that the plating looks VERY cheap. Claims to be made in Italy, but there was nothing on the razor or box so stating.

Excellent open comb razor
Excellent open comb razor! Aggressive, but not too aggressive. Due to the direction of my beard growth, some parts of my face (jawline and neck) require a more aggressive razor. The Schone open comb razor fills my needs perfectly. I don't know how long the gold finish will last, but it certainly dresses up the razor. the plating is not up to Edwin Jagger standards, but very nice nevertheless. Very handsome razor. By the way the handle is hollow, yet heavy enough to give the razor a good balance.
