Stay safe and healthy in the field
Love this product! I have used water purification pumps and bags for years on the trail and in the field. GRAYL puts all those products into one, simple to use water purification system. You can filter with and drink from this product. It cuts down on weight and space in your pack. When keeping pathogens out of your drinking water is paramount, this is your solution!

Effective at purifying, great tasting water, maybe excessive for most hiking adventures.
Pros: Very effective at purifying water - I had no issues with it while backpacking. The purified water tasted great - better than at home (but then again, I had relatively clear water to grab from). You can use drink mixes with the clean water. It seems durable and is a nice size. I did not notice any leaking at all. The color is nice, and cleaning at the end of the trip was easy.Cons: A bit expensive, but worthwhile if your water source is questionable enough to need a purifier. The press feature can be fatiguing, especially if you plan on filling your hydration system with it. I filled my 3L bladder, and after the fourth press my hand felt it. I recommend using a folded up towel or some other padding to help minimize the hand fatigue.Overall, I am happy with the product, and my 11 year old was able to use it, although pressing it became a bit difficult as our hike went on. I plan on keeping for questionable “natural” water source purification, but might explore cheaper filtration systems and use that primarily when water sources are not as questionable.
