Well made tumbler, needs slight lid redesign
I'm giving this tumbler 5 stars but would really like to give it 4.5. I've set out to personally buy Pelican, Yeti, and RTIC tumblers to review. I like the idea and functionally of these cups for always having cold or hot beverages on hand. Whether I'm at work at my desk, driving, hunting, camping, fishing, or on a beach vacation these products have all proven great. With that all said this is a review of the Pelican 32oz stainless tumbler. So far it has kept more ice on average compared to my Yeti or RTIC cups. I use 6 standard ice cubes and cold refrigerated water with my cups to gain the full potential. This is by no means a scientific controlled test but is what I have found to be real use scenarios. The Pelican will keep the ice in a large chunk and very cold water for over 16 hours. By this time with any brand tumbler I have refilled because I actually drink out of these things. The Pelican is slimmer in design and taller compared to its Yeti and RTIC competitors. The finish of the Pelican stainless cup is better than both Yeti and RTIC unlike some of the reviews I've read. I had no labeling or quality issues at all with the Pelican tumbler, I own other Pelican items and they are synonymous with quality. So the reason I'd give it 4.5, even 4.75 stars, is due to to lid design. The lid threads on and has a spill RESISTANT slider that can be easily dissembled for cleaning which is great. The lid material is robust and of Pelican's high quality. My small complaint is with the opening. Pelican left a small lip of material on the opening hole opposite of the straw modeled side. What I've found is this lip holds liquid after a drink is taken allowing liquid to sit on the lid. I find this annoying and anything other than water can become sticky and end up getting the slider wet as well. I think removing this slight lip would allow liquid to return into the tumbler after the drink is taken eliminating this annoyance and mess (see photo). Pelican you should have caught this and I hope someone from your company reads this. Overall it's a great cup and it holds ice longer than my others. All of these cups share the similar convection, conduction, and radiation minimizing properties with a vacuum and internal copper plating. I still like my Yeti cup and tend to use it only because it fits in my cars console better and it has some good miles accrued. Pelican if you fix the lid I'd hands down make this my new EDC. Also I hope our 45th president continues to uphold his promises of removing burdens on American manufacturers so these companies can get the hideous "made in China" stamps off my cups. All these companies should know putting "Designed in America made in China" doesn't cut it. MAGA!

High quality. No interior seams, interesting but functional lid
I have a lot of these style tumblers. My favorite thing about this specific tumbler, is the interior has NO seams. On all my others that have seams, they can get nasty stuff in those seams. It just has a higher probability of issues. I've dented some of the interiors just by adding ice from my fridge ice maker. This one has been solid so far. It's got no dents on the inside from ice. I haven't really beaten the thing up yet though so I don't know how well the exterior will hold up. There are two seams on the exterior which I personally don't mind. The lid is interesting. I've never seen one like it. It's got a large lip on the section you drink out of and a slider to open or close the drinkin' hole. It's not sealed up so much that you can just toss it in a bag and expect it not to leak...but it's nice to be able to close it and keep bugs out of whatever you're drinking. The lid actually screws on, so there's no silicone/rubber seal, which I like because for me, that's very hard to keep properly clean.Product is designed in the USA, but actually made in China. I actually thought all pelican products were made in the USA but I guess I was thinking of some other brand.I've only kept cold drinks in this, but it keeps ice pretty well. I put ice and water in it one night and then forgot about it. When I came back to it late the next day it still had a good amount of ice in it and the water was nice and cold still obviously. Now I just dump cold water into it and by the time I'm finished with it, the water is still cold so I've got no complaints. I got the silver one, and it says it's not recommended to put in the dishwasher, do not freeze and do not microwave. I always hand wash these things anyway so that's not a big deal for me.The base is tapered, and it's taller than most tumblers in this size, but I think that's just so it fits well into more cup holders.Quick recap:No internal seamsFunctional lid that has a slider to open/closeKeeps cold stuff cold for a good amount of timeFits into cup holders pretty well

Sturdy Screw on lid and Tough Exterior - Ice lasts for over a day!
Enjoying this cup very much. The black coating is seems very very tough and I have yet to scratch it. So many other "colored" cups are far to easy to scratch off the coloring revealing the steel underneath. I also appreciate the screw on lid as so many other cups out there have only press on lids that are less sturdy. As to it's "leak proof" abilities I cannot really testify as have it open all the time with a stainless steel straw in it so when it turns over for me it's going to leak. But the slider for closing the top seems well designed and sturdy. In terms of insulation - I can fill it with Ice and drink at lunchtime. Then take it home whereupon I switch to another cup. The next morning there will still be probably 50% of the ice I put in it at lunchtime the day before. unmelted. Not to mention that there will still be a couple of the cubes from my refrigerator that I put in it 24 HOURS before that have yet to completely melt. If you are looking to keep a beverage cold for a long time this is your cup.My only wish would be for the bottom to be just a tad smaller in circumference. Many older and foreign cars don't have the cup holders we have today designed accommodate a 44 oz bladder blaster and are designed instead around holding a standard 16 oz aluminum beverage can. The base of the Pelican is smaller than most (which is why I bought it) and can fit in my small cup holder but since it only can slide in about halfway it could still stand to be slightly smaller in circumference and a little taller to retain the volume.Overall very happy with this cup and am buying another.
