A good purchase. Good writing, detailed explanations.
Arrived on time, as advertised, no issues. Material slightly above my current level, but inspires me to learn more about Linux shell scripting. Writing is very good, with approachable introductions and detailed explanations.

Great Condition. Great Content. Not for BABIES.
This is a great book but it should NOT be your first Linux book. For that I recommend the Linux Command Line Starch Press. I am a beginner to Linux and I see this book as a great addition to my shelf to grow into. In taking to task something as wide as sharing Linux scripts, I found my Distro considerably different from this book's Distro. As with most code shared across such variate machines I spent most my time debugging and wondering why it doesn't work or how it should work so I had to learn about my specific Distro's quirks on my own. I bought this book because I love the challenge of fitting into a book beyond my current brain's comfort and capacity and I've been flipping fast through my other 2 Starch Press books to be able to flip through this one. I have also been clicking like a madman through manuals and forums and youtube instructional videos with zeal to code these scripts to life. I found myself putting off College homework to jump back into this as a fun hobby and skill investment.

Great for beginners
The book is well written and has good explanations. My only complain that it is far from being fully comprehensive. Many newer language concepts are missing (e.g. arrays).

This book is a must have!
This book is an amazing repository of scripting knowledge. I've messed around with shell scripting for about ten years, and even I learned a lot from this book. There are numerous items in this book that I never thought of even trying. This book is a must have for anyone who is interested in hacking, Linux, or just programming.

Book is great but please note your copy may have a typo ...
Book is great but please note your copy may have a typo in the very first script example. Kind of disconcerting when you're just starting to work through. From the bottom of the No Starch web page for the book, bottom of the page, "Updates" section:Script #1, line 15 The quotes around $ourpath should be removed so that the for loop reads:for directory in $ourpath

So we'll worth reading
This is a great book for those who are not afraid of BASH but who are no experts. I learnt so much from this book. Great book series and a great writer.
