This tool is handy to have around the house as well as the kitchen. The thermometer is totally touch free and uses infrared technology to provide instant and accurate readings. I tested this product by pointing the thermometer in the middle of the room and with a simple click of the trigger it quickly came back with a temperature of 93.5. I then went to my thermostat on the wall that was set at and read 94 degrees. To me that is a very accurate thermometer. This is really a simple point and shoot thermometer and is useful in many places. You can use it to verify the temperate of your water when you are preparing baths for children to make sure the water is not too hot, use it in the air as I did to know the air temperature. I find it ultra handy in the kitchen. I enjoy making bread and when using some ingredients they have to be a certain temperature to activate yeast and other ingredients. It is very hand to be able to take a touch free temperature to know exactly where your liquids are. The other place it comes in handy is when preparing meat, fish and poultry to insure you have reached a proper and safe internal temperature. This is also handy if you are serving buffets so that you can make sure that the food you have sitting out does not reach unhealthy levels for consumption. This thermometer can pretty much be used anywhere you need. The only caution is this is not an accurate thermometer to use on humans or animals to determine presence of a fever. You can switch between both metric and English temperature readings depending on what you prefer. It runs on one 9 volt battery that is included. It has a back light for easy reading and an auto shut off to conserve battery. This is a definite must have for any home.

replaced a unit i bought years ago for a couple hundred dollars and it just as good and has an added laser..

Love this little gizmo. Got it to test my wine as it is fermenting. Works perfectly. I highly recommend it for any use.

I purchased this mainly to monitor temperature of culturing yoghurt and it works wonderfully for that purpose. I am finding that there are other uses as well as just interesting things to do with it. Easy to use and haven't had a single issue.

The laser stopped working within a few weeks. Customer support was initially responsive then ignored my email follow ups to their questions.

Was not accurate at all.....the temperature was 94.1 for everything
