Q: Can these be used as a base when steaming food, such as dumplings?

These cloths are excellent for making dumplings but 50x50cm size are good for small dumplings. if you need to make CLOOTIE DUMPLING you should get a lager size.

Q: Will this only strain whey from yoghurt? Been having trouble when straining my Yoghurt through mesh bags it seems to leach yoghurt as well as whey

I have only used the muslin cloths for straining sloes/berries & found okay.

Q: Would these be suitable to make dusting bag's. Must allow the dust to drop out when touched ?

Hey not sure what a dusting bag. It certainly will allow the release of dust but I think it may be too quick it’s ideal for straining think yoghurts etc.
