Q: i have a lodge cast iron pan it says 10 in on bottom but messgers 12 on top what size lid do i need??

You need a 12" lid. With the advent of wood-burning stoves, pans were produced to conform to the sizes of the openings in their tops known as "stove eyes." The 10 is the stove eye not diameter of the pan top.

Q: What's the difference betwen this lodge 12" lid (gl12) and the other lodge 12" (gc12)? will both fit the same 12" skillets? same heat resistance?

I got an official answer from Lodge The GL is the newer version. The only difference in the GL12 and GC12 tempered glass lids is the knob on the top. The updated GL12 has a silicone knob that is oven safe to 400 degrees F. The older version (GC12) has a plastic knob, but it is still safe to up to 400 degrees F.

Q: In which country are these tempered glass lids manufactured?

My order arrived just today. According to the retail box: 10¼" skillet is made in USA. The matching glass lid is made in China.

Took FOREVER to get..

... but I'm THRILLED to have a real lid for my Lodge cast iron skillet that I use ALL THE TIME. I no longer have to use a too-small cookie sheet as a lid!This lid fits perfectly, solves my cooking issues, and is kind of sexy!I strongly recommend to anyone who doesn't need it tomorrow.

Works on Feild #8 cast iron

Just received the lid yesterday. Fits #8 Feild skillet. Which is a lighter weight cast iron skillet. I think I will like this. The knob was attached upon receipt. If I want to change to a know that can go in the oven I will buy the LeCreuset stainless know. Kind of pricey but they have good products, so I think I can trust it.

Nice Skillet Lid

Works perfect on my cast iron skillet. Seals up nice so you don't lose all the moisture out of food. Nice heat resistant handle.

Perfect for daily use of large lodge skillet

I'm giving this four stars because it is the second one I've had to purchase. The first one, the screw I guess was stripped and therefore the handle came off. We tried gorilla glue but nothing would hold it in place. It fits the large cast iron by lodge and I use this daily almost. I have used on the smaller lodge pans when necessary but obviously not a tight seal as with the large skillet. if this one "breaks" like the other, I guess I'll just have to keep replacing.Note: it is rust resistant, easy to use and clean, good value, not lightweight.
