Tasty, straight forward food you’ll want to make again & again
A beautiful hard back book of tasty, accessible recipes that you’ll want to make again & again. There’s full colour pictures of the recipes and the pages are glossy with the recipes set out beautifully. The ethos of the book is to make preparing food easier (use a food processor or grated instead of a knife) and reduce waste (no need to peel those potatoes!) whilst making sure there’s lots of flavour. This particularly appeals to me - I love cooking but my disabilities can make it difficult, so it fits with my minimum effort, maximum flavour approach to food nowadays. The recipes are not complicated long lists - they’re designed around making use of things readily available in supermarkets & using all of it.There’s often a good base everyday recipe and then some tips to elevate it or to make substitutions with what you already have.My favourite recipe I’ve tried so far is the Harissa Roasted Gnocchi (pictured). I’d never thought to roast gnocchi before - I really enjoyed the texture! I also added all the ‘elevate’ suggestions as I had them in - it really was a bowl of sunshine: different textures & flavours with every mouthful. This book won’t disappoint and I highly recommend.

Totally user friendly for everyone. Every day ingredients, easy to follow recipes, delicious meals.
This is such a beautiful book. The photos are stunning and the recipes are clever, colourful and varied. Speedy mid-week recipes to solve that "no time, what's for dinner" problem we all have. A couple of my favourites - Mediterranean Chicken Kebabs - an explosion of taste in minutes and the Sticky Roast Peaches are to die for. Nothing is wasted and the best thing, very little washing up! Thank you Shivi!

Winner for a busy working parent
I work in the NHS and have a (mad) toddler. Cook Clever has given me fresh easy dinner inspiration that I’m finding I can also cook at the end of a long day while juggling the little one. He loves the food as much as we do too :) WIN! Oh and the tips for using leftovers help my meals go further, saves me some ££ so that’s always good.

Permission to cheat
Firstly I would like to say I have 2 of her other books and Shivi is a great recipe writer and worth bearing in mind when you see how simple the recipes are in this book. Not a book for experienced cooks, but that's not her aim. A good book for those with busy lives and possibly less experienced in the kitchen, you may know some of these ideas already, but Shivi gives more ideas and most importantly gives you permission to cheat, when you are busy you don't need feel guilty about making use the vast arrange of ready made sauces and foods. As a experienced cook it's too simple for me, but I still find things that inspire and inform me in it. Works well as a platform for ideas. So buy it you are busy or inexperienced, and if your have experience, have a glance through it the next time you are in a bookshop, it have something for you as well.

Solid and Exciting Home Cooking
This book focuses on solid, exciting home cooking, featuring dishes that are impressive to the taste yet modest in preparation. I adore the balanced approach of sacrificing preparation time without sacrificing quality of cooking. I especially recommend the Cajun Hash with Fried Egg and Hasty (cheat) Hollandaise. It’s a fantastic brunch.
