so much better than a dangling wire. also, none of my car’s USB ports are constantly powered, so my cam can’t be left on when the car is off. now I have full power all the time. easy to install. the hardest part was figuring which fuse to piggyback onto. fortunately this comes with a power tester. well worth the money in my opinion

I purchased 2 of these kits for the 3x (Rove R2-4K) cameras I purchased for my family's vehicles. The install was extremely simple. Great instructions. Great YouTube videos for additional trouble shooting. I highly, highly recommend this product.*best feature*This product has a small voltage meter that allows the camera to operate as a "sentry" video guarding your vehicle, however, if your vehicle's battery drops below a certain voltage, the camera will turn off, preventing the batter from going below the voltage necessary to start the vehicle. This is a fantastic safety feature, and really thoughtful.I have tested this and it works extremely well.*Distance and location*This product extends the distance you can connect your camera from the battery by ~9 feet. Meaning even in the German automobiles who has the battery and fuse box in the rear of the vehicle you will have plenty of "give" to mount on the windshield.

I got this hardware kit to avoid needing to unplug the cigarette lighter power adapter whenever the car is shut off and to facilitate the parking mode feature of my Rove dash cam. My Nissan Rogue has a cigarette lighter that stays powered when the car is off thus running the risk of keeping the camera on and draining the battery. The kit is simple. It has 3 leads: a black ground, a yellow acc lead, and a red, continuous power lead for the camera's parking mode. The acc lead allows the camera to turn on and off with the car. My car has an internal fuse box near the steering wheel that I was able to easily tap into. The kit comes with fuse adapters that allow you to stack your camera fuse in the same slot and a voltage tester to help you identify an always hot battery fuse for the red lead and an acc fuse for the yellow lead. Finding the always hot fuse was easy enough. Finding an acc fuse that turned off immediately when the car is shut off took a little more persistence. Most of the fuses I tried took a little time to shut off after the car shut off. But aside from that, the kit made it very simple to connect everything up. And as with the Rove dash cam, the manual is very well written, informative, and easy to follow.

I purchased this to use with the Rove R3 dash cam. It's a good hardwire kit with enough options to get the mechanically inclined person up and running with no problems. 20 years ago I did after-market electronics installations. We did everything, remote starts, car alarms, power windows, cruise controls and DVD systems in SUV's. I didn't use the fuse adapters that came with this kit for two reasons. 1) My 2019 GMC Canyon still has the physical key on the steering column and I have the probe to check for constant and accessory power on the bundle of wires leading to the key. 2) They don't include the 3-bladed fuses that I found in my fuse box (those are new to me). I had trouble finding fuses that were oriented in the proper way to use the included adapters.I really like the voltage cut-off settings that will prevent the system from draining your battery. My truck is 4 years old so I believe I'll be testing out that feature in a year or so, since automotive batteries seem to last about 5 years. The hard-wire kit took the longest to install compared to the actual Rove R3 installation. If you're mechanically inclined, you should be able to get this installed without too much trouble. The instructions are good, the probe tool is ok. The tip could be a little sharper, which would make it easier to determine if the fuse has power. I found I hard to press harder than expected to read voltage on the smaller fuses.

I bought this kit in conjunction with a Rove R2 Dual camera.The price is little higher than I would have liked when ordering it, but this kit was more comprehensive than I expected. It came with 4x Acc taps and 4x Batt taps, mounting tape, a trim pry tool.I didn't test the voltage tool but it's a nice touch. I was actually replacing the hardwire kit from another brand so I was basically just replacing the other brand's taps with ones from this kit.Actually good value and definitely a must buy if you want hardwire your Rove dashcam like I did.

Installation was pretty straightforward, and they give you everything you need in the kit. The hardest part of the installation for me was identifying a fuse to use for the ACC connection. I was doing this by myself and the fuse box on my RAM 2500 truck is in the engine compartment next to the battery, so I kept having to walk back to the drivers seat to turn the truck on and off to test the fuses. Would have been much quicker and easier with a 2nd person sitting in the truck. Because my truck's fuse box is in the engine compartment, I had to route the wires through the firewall but luckily there was a hole with a plastic blank bolted over it I used so I didn't have to cut through the rubber boot around the steering column or worse, drill a new hole in the firewall. The wires in the hardwire kit were just long enough to reach from the fuse box, through the firewall, and up to the location I placed the camera. Overall I'm very pleased with the product and how well it works. An added bonus is not having USB cords hanging down to plug into the USB ports on my dashboard.
