Excellent quality hoover and great value
Went from a Henry to this and the convenient form factor, weight and mobility of this compared to the Henry is insane. With two messy kids this had made my life noticably better because I can keep the house cleaner with less effort. It feels very good quality too as do the attachments. And the fact I can use it to clean my car with the short attachments means it's actually replacing two hoovers for me. The only thing I would suggest is an improvement on the battery indicatory. Currently you just have three small white lights in a line. These are subtle so it's easy to not notice when it's low. Also three lights is not very accurate. A beep when at 10% or something would be really useful I think to stop me putting it away at 8% charge without noticing to charge it. Also when pulling it towards you, due to the brush configuration on the bottom, it just pulls large bits of dirt towards you and doesn't pick them up. A bit annoying and could probably be improved. But overall I would recommend this in a heart beat.

For occasional use around the apartment.
An excellent product that for £170 was excellent value. I already had a full sized Shark which I purposely purchased for dealing with long hair which I am very happy with. This one also deals with long hair very well. The problem with long hair is that it doesn't fall out of the dust box easily, but wraps itself around the inside filter. However, it DOES pick it up for which I am delighted and pulling a lump long hair off the filter when emptying is a small price to pay. It is light enough and the battery lasts for a number of quick whizzes around the heavy hair/traffic zones. The facility to hinge the pipe in the middle on this model is far more effective than on the larger mains model: in deed it's easy to unlock the hinge and use it all over in that mode. It's a little heavy in this mode and you almost have to get into a swinging rhythm using it. In any case, I would never use or recommend it as a substitute for a whole house machine. I suspect that the turbo brush head augments the main motor because the suction is not as strong when using either of the two tools. The dirt box doesn't empty as easily as the videos suggest, but probably would if I were only picking up rice crispies or plastic beads from a polished floor. In real life, dirt is a mixture of different things which tangle together so you might need to use your hand to encourage the dirt, dust and hair to fall out. If this isn't for you, get a bagged vacuum! It's possible to remove the dirt container completely to make emptying easier and also to carefully rinse out the container (there does come a time when the build-up of dirt becomes ugly to behold). Just make sure you dry it thoroughly.Tools provided, just ok, bag a bit silly. Rather have had a storage hook. A full charge from empty: 3 hours. In spite of all my apparent criticism, when you use it within the parameters I have outlined, it is worth every one of five stars. For light use: excellent, for £170 great value.I've had it over six months now and like it even more. The mains powered Dyson never comes out of the cupboard. Just keep emptying regularly.

Great cordless cleaner
At the risk of committing heresy, I bought this to replace my Henry vacuum cleaner. Yes, I know most people see Henry as the king of the cleaners (and it's true, his suction is unrivalled), but I was really fed up of trailing the hefty Henry and his cord around the house, frequently getting held up by him falling over / getting his cord stuck on something. So when this Shark came up on special offer and interest-free payments, I took the plunge. And I'm very glad that I did. I totally expected the suction to be inferior to Henry's (it is a cordless, after all), but there are so many advantages:• The battery life is more than adequate – I can easily clean my cottage on one charge.• The system for switching the different parts is simple and easy – done in seconds – as is the flexi option for cleaning under sofas, etc.• It's very easy to clean – the tank for the dust (which is admittedly quite small – I often have to empty it twice during a whole-house clean) is quick and surprisingly satisfying to empty, and when the cleaner gets blocked (which it does quite a lot, as we have four dogs!), it's really easy to unblock.• It's very manoeuvrable – the head swivels and has a useful light on it, and it can get into most nooks and crannies. I tend to carry the nozzle tool with me and just quickly stick it on for the hard-to-get places.• It has a boost function for extra suction when required (but this really drains the battery quickly). The only disadvantages that I've come across are that it does block easily (but perhaps that was because it was faced with a gargantuan task the first few times, as I hadn't been hoovering as much as I should have because of my fraught relationship with Henry) and that the 'hard floor' setting doesn't really cut the mustard – I use the carpet setting for all the floors. The main part of the cleaner is also quite heavy, and while this isn't a problem for normal vacuuming, if you want to remove things above shoulder height or clean curtains, it's only possible for a few minutes (for me anyway ... perhaps I might manage longer if I worked out).So although I wouldn't say I was in love with my Shark, I'd say we are definitely very good friends. And Henry is in the Cupboard of Shame.
