Great addition to my kitchen
This is one of the best cast iron skillet I've owned. It came pre seasoned which gives a good starting point to build up a great cooking surface.Being double sided gives loads of cooking options and has enough cooking surface for 3 medium sized burgers.I use mine over the gas cooker (big enough to cover 2 gas hobs) and thus have better control over temperature zones. The ridged side gives amazing charred lines. It's not light weight either...so be prepared! Also it keeps heat very well and fairly long enough. As fas as cleaning it's easy as long as you pat it dry, place it over the hob to finish drying and as soon as it's totally dry, straight away cover the WHOLE skillet with a light coat of vegetable oil (IK there's other good ones to use)...WARNING the skillet is going to be hot...let it cool down and store.

The best piece of cookware i've ever bought!
I can't believe i didn't buy something like this sooner.Fantastic for cooking several steaks, burgers at one time, great for larger quantities without having to use several pans and it just cooks/sears meat so well.It is very easy to clean, i always run under hot water while it's still hot, give a little scrub with some soap and once dried put oil on it ready for the next use.

Can be used on glass top hob
This works on my glass top cooker! I’ve used both sides, both sides heat, well one more quickly than other, but not much difference in either side, I turn off heat and let it cool enough to handle as this gets very hot!!!easily cleaned with a brush, and water, even burnt food, I don’t use any washing up liquid on my cast iron, I dry it off on hot cooker top, after each clean,, then oil lightly with olive oil on a cloth, ready for next use, tip use plenty of oil at first use, do not lift when hot without a thick cloth to protect you hands, this is heavy, should last a lifetime, fits well on the double burner of my electric cooker, can control either burner,

Versatile, quality product, good for induction hobs
A solid, versatile tool in the kitchen with just a couple of flaws.PROs:- Great for an induction hob with multizone capability.- Heats very quickly. Even heat transmission.- Reversible so very versatile - steaks on one side, pancakes on the other.- Delivered pre-seasoned so non-stick.- Quality product. Good value for the outlayCons:- Cast iron is very heavy.- Worried it will scratch the glass on induction. They should deliver it with a removable fitted silicone protectors (for opposite edges. Workaround is to place thin silicone mat as support.- came with a flaw - one edge has a nodule that can cut into glass- cast iron needs special cleaning and maintenance.Overall would recommend for induction jobs with multizone functionality.

Ignore bad reviews, Lodge is the best.
Lodge stuff is fab. No teflon or chemicals and will last a lifetime. Slippery as teflon when seasoned. Any cast iron pan or griddle must be cleaned after use (no dishwasher!), dried immediately (preferably on a hob) lightly oiled and put away. If not it will rust, and more fool you for not reading the instructions. Forget teflon coated aluminum throw away rubbish. Buy quality, look after it and join the proper chefs club. You will never look back.

Love cast iron
I have wanted one of these for ages and I am not disappointed. I love cooking on cast iron.It spreads over 2 burners, I run vertically. Usually I set one burner higher than the other so I get a little bit of temperature variation. It also fits in my oven which helps with seasoning and I could cook on it in there. It is a heavy block of metal, as you should expect. Cleaning is not really a problem. Some water and a good stiff brush usually does the trick. I also have a scraper for the tough stuff. The pan must be thoroughly dried or it will rust. (If you do get rust, the scrub the things and begin seasoning again.) I find cleaning when warm is best and I just use water, no soap.Even though it is factory seasoned it will take some time to build a good layer on the surface. A very little oil on the surface and bung it in the oven for about 30 minutes regularly will help. The non-stickiness will improve over time.ProsBig surface to cook onRetains heat wellReversible with a smooth and ridged sidesYou can get away with very little oil when cookingTreated with respect it will out-live youConsHeavyRequires a bit of TLC to maintain its looks(Tip: I got mine from the Amazon Warehouse and it was pristine. It is a large old lump of metal, if it showed some signs wear and tear it is easily recoverable. Even secondhand cast iron is worth a punt.)

Does not work well on an induction hob
Good things: Not very expensive, usual solid Lodge construction, comes well-seasoned.Bad things: It's not entirely flat, so it will wobble on a flat stovetop like an induction hob. It also slides around on glass, because it only rests on 3 corners. That makes it not so good since it has no handle to grab it to stop it sliding off the hob if you try to flip something you're cooking. If you use a protective mat to stop it scratching the hob top and keep it from sliding around and wobbling, then the hob (mine at least) will only work with the smooth side down, and not the serrated side down. With serrated side down and a non-slip mat, the induction mechanism cannot engage with the pan and will not heat it up. Instead you get a lot of relays clicking in the hob and no heat. All of this makes it unusable for things like american-style pancakes or anything you want a flat griddle surface for.I'm sure it would be great on a gas cooker or charcoal grill - all the things pictures in the product photos - but I cannot recommend it for an induction hob.
