I fix things all the time and of course have a number odd old tubs, yogurt pots and frozen food trays to put the bits in. I must say this does do the job well and you can move the tray without things falling off. No it does not make screws etc magnetic but you still need the odd pot for plastic and non magnetic parts. I store my board on the side of a filing cabinet to which it attaches very well. The supplied pen is a bit of a nuisance as it requires some alcohol or similar cleaner to remove the writing. Why they couldn't supply a water based pen I don't know. One extra would to be a couple of small metal based trays of the correct size to hold non magnetic parts so for this missing part I award 4 stars. Still worth buying if the price is right!

Used this a few times for when I've disassembled a Sega Megadrive Controller or Arcade Stick.Having the little screws, sitting magnetically in the squares is so useful. If the hardware has several screws for different tiers/sections, this can help a lot.I got this as it came up as a recommendation when purchasing one of the iFixit kits. I honestly can say it was a product I didn't even know I needed, but happy to have.

I used this product when I disassembled/reassembled my iMac. It helped me to keep all the screws and other small metal bits in order.It was a bit expensive for one upgrade but it is definitely a no brainer for people doing such a work daily.Well thought, good adhesive strength. It is recommended.

The product is great and does the job. But upon receiving my package today, the pen lid was already partially off.This has caused the pen to dry out, beyond conceivable repair. It seems silly, but it is important for these projects.

I got this for laptop repairs which I do often but always struggle with misplacing small screws.I had previously used post it notes to label screws from a repair project but they would always end up rolling around and I'd lose track of where they came from. Thanks to this new magnetic project mat that is no longer a problem for me.The magnet is not as strong as a magnetic parts dish but it is strong enough to hold all the screws commonly found in desktop computers and Laptops. The larger threaded screws are best placed heads down so they yield to the magnet more strongly, I was able to turn it 90 degrees and completely upside down without the screws falling off.The best thing about the project mat is that it's laminated so you can write on it as much as you want then just wipe clean when done, Just make sure you use dry-wipe markers only.Even though the price is a little hefty for what it is I think it's worth it especially if you frequently work on electronics and hardware repair.-Highly recommended

This product arrived very well packaged from ifixit and the board it’self is very useful. Top quality and very magnetic to the point where you can lift it at a 90 degree angle and the screws are still firmly in place. Very helpful for keeping the screws organised and perfect if your doing something like phone repairs arrived very quickly and would Reccomend to anyone in need of a board for organising screws.worth every penny!

When you're repairing phones or computers, you always seem to loose those small screws.

Ideal for placing the screws when stripping down tablets, smartphones notebooks and almost any product that has a compact case. In some devices tgere are in excess of 30 screws some of different lengths together with fixings that need to be correctly placed and identified easily. This mat is a great aid for remembering and keeping count of where things are placed for reassembly.
