Great way to make cheap (zero sugar) beef jerky.
I bought this purely to make beef jerky. but the instruction doesn't tell how to do this. so, what I did was set it on high for 10 hours. then I put it in the oven for an additional hour at 175 degrees to make sure all bacterial is killed. then it is ready to eat. Note: round steak tastes the best. Also, if you don't like chewy meat then I would just stick to store bought jerky. but I like chewy simi-tough meat, and I also hear it is good for your teeth.

Great Value!
I needed an affordable yet functional veggie dehydrator. This is the one! It was cheaper than some SECOND HAND ones I saw online, and it's clear, quiet and easy to use. I make all sorts of fruit and veggie chips with this guy. Essential item in my house!

small yet efficient
Bought this dehydrator just because of the low price in a strapped economy. It is smaller in size than I thought it would be even though the dimensions were plainly illustrated by the seller. Good news is that even with the small diameter it comes with 5 trays that can be expanded a smidge in height between the trays, and is large enough to suit the needs for anyone looking to dehydrate fruits or vegetables. My first time with this particular item was 2 trays of apple slices, 2 trays of orange slices, and 1 tray of sliced banana. 140 degree setting and 6 hours time everything came out suitable. Bad news is if you are wanting to dehydrate on a larger scale then you should look into a larger piece of equipment. I am rating this 4 of 5 stars until I find out the overall durability. If it goes down after a couple or few uses I will amend this review to reflect that.

Suits My Needs
Great quality dehydrator with multiple heating levels. It is designed in layers, allowing you to remove and add as needed, this is a great design and also allows the dehydrator to fit where need be.I will say it dehydrates faster when using less layers. This works well at dehydrating mushrooms or whatever else you can cut into slices. For this price point, you can't go wrong!

Perfect Size for Herbs - Leftovers etc. Runs like a champ!
I have a larger dehydrator but wanted something smaller for a few leftover berries, veggies, small amounts of herbs or small liquids. I got this & have been using it for 5 yrs & it works great. The only thing is with the smaller 9 inch trays - I can't find trays for fruit leather or liquids and finer screens for herbs... so I did cut window screening material & that has worked great... I cut some silicone mats but only for small amts of liquid since there is no "lip"... So that is the ONLY "con" I have for this small one... but I use is quite a bit & it's been running great so far for 5 yrs.

Whiny little POS out of the box...with a nasty rattle.
The media could not be loaded. Update: I'm a tinkerer...so I disassembled this...and was able to make it operable...through two actions. 1. I shaved (dremel-ed) down the plastic guard protecting the motor transformer wires that the fan blade was hitting (but still left enough to protect the transformer wires). and 2. The fan blade has a weak attachment to the motor shaft allowing it to slide down the motor shaft (and hit the guard/ whine the motor). So I put a little piece of electric tape on the motor shaft then reattached the fan blade. This provided a more stable/secure connection between the shaft and fan blade....fixing the issue. I'm keeping the star rating because I/we shouldn't have to fix incompetent design/manufacturing.Orig:I bought this in October to dehydrate fruits, with the prospect of dehydrating vegetables, meats, etc., and maybe even to dehydrate stuff for grind into fruit/veg powders.I finally got around to it, and thought I'd give some banana chips a go. I cut some chunks, put them in the trays, plugged it in, and immediately found out "not today". This thing whines and rattles like the motor is bad and the fan blades are hitting something. Also, I cut some thicker chunks of the bananas...and even with the "raised" setting, I noticed that the space between trays isn't very wide...an inch maybe. So since I waited so long to use this, I'm beyond the return window and am just out the $40, not to mention the landfill factor. So I'd choose another brand/product if I were you. So disappointing.

Compact but won't reach temp without blocking some top lid holes.
Pro: This is compactCon: Won't reach temp without blocking most top lid holes; Temp control isn't accurate. This works by sending air up the center hole to the top lid - and then sucks it down and in through the plates. The problem is the lid has far too many holes and too much hot air escapes. The hottest it generally gets on max is 135-140F. And that is emptyCovering all but one hole it will get to 167 in one test. The temp control may be high or low - so if you care - then use an accurate temp probe to test.I modified by covering most of each hole with kapton take (a high heat hobby tape).Pro: The power as measured with an accurate meter is 267 watts consistently. Essentially their 280 rating.Con: The platter holes are particularly large - too large for ground or cut herbs.Suggestion: These https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0876LPGL have a perfect sized center hole. I sharpie scribe the outer profile (using a platter) and cut it out. These tuck into the corners and are nice and flexible.Summary: Good only if you really need a compact dehumidifer - and then you'll spend $12 on sheets and need to plug top holes.Recommendation: If size isn't an issue get the Nesco Snackmaster. Works as advertised without mods etc.https://www.amazon.com/NESCO-FD-75A-Snackmaster-Food-Dehydrator/dp/B0090WOCN0
