Q: Does this save the cd position? I want to use it on audiobooks

No, not if you turn it off. I use it for audio books too, and the digital display shows what chapter you are on, so if I switch it off I make a note of the chapter so I can start from there the next time. What I like is, if I fall asleep while listening, when it reaches the end of the CD it will turn off.

Q: Does it use batteries and, if so, what size?

Yes it takes 6 C cell batteries

Q: What is the max amount of time the cd will play for ? Will it play through the night on repeat or will it switch itself off?

i have never played a c.d through the night however when a c.d. is finished the player closes.

Q: Cd a faff to use. too many buttons. how do you stop playing? usb says to use same as cd. won't play.

first turn player in. Turn bottom front knob to CD then put your CD in the player and press centre button which says select and music will play . To turn off, press button with a square in just below select and CD will stop, and you can extract your CD, and just press off button and jobs done . Hope I've helped xxx enjoy !
