I have to say, this is one of those items where I read some of the reviews and I say, WHAT? How on earth could you possible bend this item? For an item this inexpensive I'm not sure why I spend reading the reviews but I do. I should mention as someone that is not a senior, I purchased these shoe horns because I recently had ankle surgery. My left ankle is a bit swollen and putting on my shoes has been very difficult. I decided to look into some options and landed on these. Both the short and long shoe horns are made of metal that is more than a robust thickness needed to put your shoes on. I could dig concrete with these shoe horns and they would most likely hold up. The paint or coating looks fine and durable. The long handle has a leather handle that is plenty comfortable. I find the shape of the shoe horn to work perfectly to put on my shoes that include low and high tops. There is a lot to be said about that shape when putting on shoes with a swollen ankle with ease. I keep the long handled shoe horn near our front door and the short one near my recliner. This provides a lot of convenience to where I put my shoes on. On the long handled shoe horn, I'm over 6 foot so if you want to stand perfectly straight and put your shoes on it won't reach. I just bend over a bit or place my shoe on the upward stair and all is fine. Another first world problem. Overall, a great purchase.

The shoe horns are very sturdy and well designed. My feet slip into my shoes so much better when I use them. An excellent product with great construction, and they are very helpful.

I've tried other plastic shoe horns, and none of them were very good. Their length and curve were both uncomfortable to use. So, I splurged on this set of metal ones, because at my age and with arthritis in my right hand, I really value good "tools" to help me dress and also dress my disabled husband. It was well worth it!!The long-handled one seemed too narrow at first glance and it didn't have the the extra curve that I love in the shorter one, but it works perfectly to help me get into my own shoes. Its pleather handle is so comfortable to hold it in place, and it's just the right length to use while sitting down for anyone - and even when standing if you are shorter than most, like me.I haven't tried using it to help my husband, though. His heels are a lot wider than mine, but its lengthwise curve appears deep enough to guide his Size 12 feet into his shoes. If my back is ever bothering me, I can use it to help him into his shoes while he is sitting down or standing.However, for him, I absolutely love how the smaller, wider one does the job so easily! I am usually stooping down low anyway to get each shoe onto his toes, so with almost no extra effort, I just slide it between his heel and the back of his "slip-on" shoe and in seconds - with very little effort on his part - each heel glides smoothly into place. He has advanced Parkinson's disease, so he really needs all the help he can get.The quality and durability of each piece is great also. Metal will never crack or snap! Both are coated with a smooth, silky black finish that is actually a pleasure to feel while using them. I appreciate nice tools, and as a woman, I really appreciate beauty as well as function. This set definitely deserves 5 stars for both! If you can afford these, you will most likely be very pleased.

After bending a lighter weight long shoe horn, I looked for one made of steel that would be more rigid. These fit the bill. They’re sturdy, nice-looking, smooth edges (no catching) and the black satin finish allows your foot to slide easily into a shoe. I bought two sets to keep in the bedroom and the mudroom. Excellent buy!

Actually just fantastic! Those plastic ones always break. A solid product, made of steel, just wish the leather was real. Overall fantastic.
