What size for a 5 year old?

My great granddaughter is 4 1/2. I buy her size 5 that usually fits nicely. Remember no two children are alike. Look at the build of the child which is the weight and height. The child I buy for is less than 40 lbs and is 42 inches tall. I hope this helps.
