I've bought a few different sizes of this product to help me with digging and planting in my garden which has a particularly tough clay-based soil. With the right drill, these augers make the work far easier but watch out for the torque if they get stuck in the ground! They are certainly strong and well made, and they fit my DeWalt hand drill well. Saves me a lot of time digging smaller holes.

Produces clean holes in tilled garden soil and through turf, if using on the latter the drill needs careful tweaking to produce the best results.

Product is being mis-sold. I chose this product because it was described as a single shaft item - but it isn’t.These are direct quote words in the description; “Durable and Sturdy .. upgraded with a solid shaft .. resistant to breakage .. long service time.”However, It has a flimsy joint half up the shaft - check the pics, no sign of any joint. Check the words, “upgraded with a solid shaft”, no it hasn’t, it’s two pieces. You might expect that if it hits resistance in the ground a solid shaft will stop and this is normal, we might expect that and account for it with necessary actions. Because of the flimsy joint it simply strips the thread and hey presto the add-on top piece of the shaft is not longer any use. There was a clue in the options but why should I have to work this out? Two options: 42cm long and 80cm long. Because there is an add-on piece. This is a cheap con. Avoid. Sorry I can’t award zero stars.

Ok-ish. Of the many similar items on Amazon I selected this particular one because the photos show a solid single-piece shaft. This isn’t what arrives - it is actually in two pieces: the augur part, and a separate extension shaft which you have to screw together. That’s all well and good when you are drilling in a forward direction, but as soon as you get stuck and try to reverse the thread unscrews leaving the augur in the ground. Also, I would have expected the hex-end to be hardened tool steel like a conventional drill. It isn’t and so rounds-over easily when the going gets tough. It gets the job done, but you just need to take it easy, taking small steps at a time. Overall a little bit disappointed but you get what you pay for.

It does the job I wanted it to do, but it’s not great , hit a hard piece of ground mud not stone and couldn’t cope
