This jar of gesso wad surprisingly heavy when I unboxed it. After opening, the gesso was extremely black!I painted a 20x20 new, white canvas with it. The coverage was amazing! It only took one coat of gesso to make the canvas completely black.It has a nice, matte finish, dried quickly and is ready to paint over with oil paints.It dried smooth and not blotchy. There are no white dots from the texture if the canvas.It's a great product!

Excellent product. I've used it to cover several canvases. It gets the job done and is easy to apply.

Dries quickly, very smooth, good price -

I use the gesso primer paint on the end tables I make. I use the primer before using acrylic paint to paint the top of the table. It helps keep the paint on the areas that I have primed with gesso and makes it easier to make my designs. I would order this product again. The only drawback is when the gesso dries up some on the lid and then those dried pieces fall into the primer when I pour it. It is definitely worth the money I paid for it. It does not have a smell and the quality is great.

Nice, very thick gesso that coats with one coat. The jar is too flimsy and difficult to open. Hate the jar lid so I put the product in a different jar.

While it seems and works well nowhere on the product does it say BLACK gesso. We ordered it and got next day delivery which was great, but it says acrylic gesso and on the back it says dries to a white finish. So we didn't open it, contacted amazon for a replacement and when the new one arrived it was exactly the same container, so we opened that one and its BLACK. Need to add the word black on it.
