Strongly recommend
I planted the seeds on 10/17 in Ohio which is cool and wet weather. The seeds are all sprouting and growing well in 10 days. These are quality seeds.

Sprouted right away!
Great cover crop for my chickens. You have to keep them out of it until the buckwheat matures but then they LOVE IT!Super good for them too.

Planted Mine, Doing Great
I'm using them to crowd out weeds in newly established garden areas that aren't ready to be otherwise planted. Very good germination rate.

These seeds sprout fine, but being buckwheat
These seeds sprout fine, but being buckwheat, the seed case does not easily fall off most of the sprouts. Expect to have to remove seed casings from 20-40% of the seeds after sprouting in soil. I'm not sure how they do sprouting in water.

For growing greens, not jar sprouting
I am new to sprouting, very new in fact. I read that buckwheat was a very easy sprout so I bought this organic seed. Unfortunately, it turns out that this is not the right buckwheat for "normal" jar sprouting, this seed is for growing greens/grass and requires that type of sprouter. This seed has the inedible hull still on it. I think the description could be a little clearer. If you want to sprout buckwheat look for hulled buckwheat or "groats". But not toasted buckwheat or 'kasha', obviously that will never sprout, having been cooked. The only upside is my birds seem to like it a lot so I guess it won't go completely to waste.
