Input volume too high? This’ll do the trick!!
I recently bought a new record player/turntable to connect to my 1990’s Pioneer separates sound system. However, on plugging the turntable directly into the Phono input at the back of the amp, the sound was distorted and painful to listen to.I decided I needed some way of limiting the input into the amp and this little gadget did the trick. I was able to turn the output volume down and thereby getting rid of the distorted playback.The fact the previous reviews referred to car stereos was a little off-putting but it looked like it did what I would need it to and, lo and behold, it did. Perfectly.If there was to be a downside, it would merely be the fact that I needed another cable to reverse the ‘gender’ of the connectors on one side, but fortunately I had a spare lead to hand!

Good
Working perfectly. I am using it for adjusting my car subwoofer volume. Only disadvantage is, I would like it more if it had a feelable pointing dot or arrow or something, cuz you cant really see it's position in the dark.

RCA bass knob works perfectly. feels cheap but this was expected for the price. knob turns smoothly and was easy to wire into my car. would recommend if all you're looking for is simple control of subwoofer volume without any special LED lights etc.

Adjusts Volume Perfectly
Bought this item after a set of speakers I own would only go down to a certain volume level before cutting out, when connected to a certain CD player. This volume was still too loud.This dial goes between both the player and the speakers and allows me to lower the volume even further, to a much more tolerable level.I love music as much as the next guy, but sometimes you want it on for gentle background, and not to make your ears bleed...I love this thing and I will definitely recommend it if you simply cannot get a level of volume you enjoy our of your current setup.

Reduces the loud line out on my cd player
I have a Sony cd separate that outputs a ridiculously high line out volume to active speakers. I used this to reduce the volume before it hits the speaker. Works perfectly. No hiss or hum added by using this. Just a clean signal with a lower output.

Amp level control
Perfect for turning the amp on my sub down. Saves my wife complaining about her ears hurting. Saves having to nip round to the boot to turn the amp down manually.

Cheap way to insert a potentiometer into the signal path (at £8 or so).
It's a 50k ohm potentiometer across the input, with the wiper connected to the output. Shield/ground goes straight across, of course.Most important is to not confuse input and output (like many seem to do):The output goes from connected to the input signal (knob turned right) to being connected to ground (knob turned left). So if you mix them up you can ground the input signal and ruin the source component!This device can only attenuate the signal (voltage divider), not amplify it. And there's no "chip" involved. It's a potentiometer ("pot"), and that's it.
