No, it doesn’t crumble back. It is very solid. Doesn’t look like the seen image. It’s not that orange color and it is very small. I think you should look for similar items of the product.

Start here if your a bottarga beginner.

I was surprised by how tiny this one was. Granted, I saw it and it looked like the last few I got and the price was great. Its just a mini version with less umami than I expected. I first had Bottarga in Rome, then SPQR in SF, then from amazon twice for home. I use it like a good parm on anything really.Anyway, this is a good beginners Bottarga. If you haven't yet had it, try this one. Well priced and if you hate it you wont feel about Tossing ir making a beautiful gift for a friend who likes good things.
