Works perfect on Chicken quarters with bone in!!
Love it!! Worked perfect for grinding my 3 shepherds raw diet consisting of semi frozen chicken quarters with bone in, cut into rib size pieces. Being Semi Frozen compared to thawed, the grinder performed fast and simple. Absolutely no over heating, no bogging down, and cleaning was super easy. I've ground 60lbs easily so far, it was easy to use, no jamming, no black gunk others mentioned,. I didn't find it to be any louder than a blender/mixer if you were chopping ice or nuts, something that has a harder texture. Sturdy, and quality of the grinder I feel is as good as some even more expensive, priced right for me. I'm satisfied with my purchase, and happy I didn't let some of the reviews stop me..

Allowed us to switch to local (instead of expensive brand name imported) rabbit
Wasn't till our customary supply of expensive, imported, brand name frozen rabbit pet food dried up that we sought out a few local suppliers and contemplated grinding our own. (Dismembering whole rabbits and shredding the pieces by hand takes FOREVER and is about as fun as picking beggar lice - the seeds, you ninny - off a golden retriever.) Both suppliers are less than 15 minutes away by car (important during hot weather); both are well-stocked meat shops in indoor marketplaces. You know those "shopping experience" places that you're not too sure about until you discover that they and they alone sell something you really want or need? Like that. Both obviously sell rabbits: whole, cleaned ones. But their offerings differ greatly. The nearer meat store sells fresh rabbits, big ones, in thick plastic vacuum sealed bags. Reportedly, the rabbits are local, and raised and slaughtered humanely. The price per pound is little more than we were paying for the imported pre-ground stuff, whose two pound tube had slowly increased to about $16.The meat store a little further away sells frozen rabbit wrapped in ordinary plastic at less than half this price. These rabbits are noticeably smaller, which presumably results in a higher meat-to-bone ratio. Since we already learned this may be a problem, and since neither product includes the organs, we may end up needing to add other ingredients in any event.Anyway, once we put aside all the accessories we don't need (at least for now, hmmmm), it wasn't long before we were grinding away. Our first effort, with the smaller, formerly frozen rabbit, ended with a little left over in the auger, stuff that didn't want to push through without anything behind it. On the subsequent grinding, which I didn't witness, the end of the batch came right on through. This was the larger, fresh rabbit. Tonight we will grind another one of these, but one we had to freeze and then thaw in the refrigerator, so it will be interesting to compare the results. Each time, we have cut the rabbit into larger and larger pieces. Though we don't plan to try it, we wonder if we couldn't just shove the whole thing in there and watch this workhorse chomp it right up! At first we assumed we'd have to double grind it, but we discovered we could use the finer plate and get it all in one go.Complaints about the instructions may stem from the undersized photos and their poor reproduction quality (dark, bad contrast) but the text - along with our own common sense - made it easy enough. We love the heavy, brushed metal base - enough to forgive the manufacturer for attaching the "scoop" in such an inelegant way. And the lumps and ripples under the standard stick-on control panel - screws, presumably - don't help the appearance either. Yes, it is noisy. Yes, the cats hate it. You were expecting . . . what?Still, it seems to be well designed and made in general, especially in comparison to most home machinery on the market these days. The piece that holds the plates and blade in certainly can't be faulted for having too few screw threads. (Maybe this provides some advantage during sausage making?) We love the extra blades provided, especially since - with the legendary customer service/parts inventory attributed to this company - we don't have to worry about getting more should they ever expire.Because of this little machine, instead of eating meat-for-pets that's been shipped from the other side of the world, our cats can eat human grade meat from local sources. As a bonus, this can be done either more ethically, or for less money. Or maybe if we keep looking, we'll get lucky and be able to do both.

Strong and efficient meat grinder
Great product

Great for making dog food
I ground raw chicken quarters bones and all to make dog food. I did a double pass as suggested in instructions. This grinder made short work of the quarters. I had to cut them into three pieces to fit through opening. The leg bones loaded it up a little bit, but it did a great job.

Lasted me 10 years
My grinder just bit the dust... after 10 years of service. I originally bought it in 2014. I will not bore you with a long review, but will give you my takeawauys after 10 years. I use this pretty heavily for hunting season each year to process my father in law's as well as my white tail deer. This is my family's supply of red meat for the entire year, so we process a fair amount each year.Cons-Struggles with continuous use. If you plan on grinding 50lbs, she is going to overheat and will need rests. A cold night does help. The finish gets messed up over time.A little slowPros-Strong, no problems aside from overheating when I do a lot in a sitting.Great grind. I like going through the course plate once, then running it through the medium plate.Great bang for your buckI got 10 years of solid use out of mine, so I will be ordering a second.

Failed after 8 months. Very loud!!!
I have had this grinder for 8 months. Very loud. Large grinding noise and then it completely failed. I have used it to make pet food. Primarily ground chicken. Very disappointed with how long it lasted. Can not recommend.
