This product is genius. Such a simple concept but it works so well! These locks came with easy instructions I was able to follow in about 10 seconds. I have it installed on the knobs of my apartment's bathroom cabinet and partner's bedroom armoire, keeping an extremely curious (& somewhat destructive) toddler from getting into things she should not.I can even sometimes open it with one hand, although one of the few negatives of this product is that I can't always open it with a single hand & closing it always requires two. The only other negatives are that I need to fix the length of the straps from time to time and the white color can look a little grimy fairly quickly (& there are no instructions on how to clean them). I knocked off a star for these.This latch will fit on a variety of knobs, but if you have knobs on your cabinets or furniture doors which are especially larger than usual, this product won't fit. According to the product insert, Kiscords do however have longer cords you can order directly from them.Great communication and quick shipping direct from Kiscords as well -- a socially responsible company making all of their products in the USA, offering great value in a two-pack. We have tried so many of baby safety cabinet locks, and these are the best for side-by-side cabinetswith two knobs. We didn't want to have to install anything on our new cabinets and you don't have touse drill or glue with these!They seem simple, but when you get them, read the directions!Initially I didn't read the instructions and they were slipping. The string has to be as pictured, withone end hanging long and the other short where the plastic parts are touching. When done properlythey work great without slippage.These are working perfectly for our cabinets in our bathrooms and kitchen. They are easy to pull loose and pull tight, which makes it easy for an adult to get in and out of cabinets, but our kids havetried to open them with no success, unlike the sliding latch ones. These are lifesavers!Highly recommended!

We bought this to help our night time wandering toddler from getting into things he shouldn't, and it's been wonderful! The two safety buttons keep it tight and prevents any of my toddlers from being able to open it, it has endured many tugs and pulls making it extremely durable, and it's easy to open for teenagers and adults so definitely functionable for the ages it should be.

In terms of pros, this is very easy to use and it does do the job of keeping my son out, however, the cons are: 1) its a string so it gets dirty and now that my son cant open the door he focuses instead on this string 2) because it is a string hanging out, my son constantly puts this now dirty string in his mouth and there is a plastic stop at the end of the string and I worry that he will swallow this stop. At 14 months and always teething it appears anything that can be chewed will be chewed. We try to wrap the string into itself to kepp him from sucking on it but it always slowly loosens again. The magnetic locks I also bought were more challenging to affix but once affixed are more appealing aesthtically as they were not visible on the outside of the door and therefore not available for my son to suck on. Because of the danger of my son swallowing the plastic stop at the end of this device, I will not be buying anymore, I will instead buy the magnetic locks.

UPDATE: When our daughter was about 2, at her preschool they taught the kids how to do buttons, zippers, velcro, and... this type of cord. Sigh. So, they worked great until school fouled us up. For months, she went around the kitchen intentionally taking them off the doors to show off her new skill. Ooops. Luckily, by then she understood that the things int he cabinets were not for her and she hasn't pulled the food processor out or anything, so it hasn't mattered too much. But now we need to convince her not to show her little brother how to take them off.These things work GREAT!!! I like them a lot better than the hard plastic locks that were marring the finish of our cabinets and were tough for mom and dad to work sometimes. These are easy and are saving our cabinets lots of wear and tear. My daughter is 13 months and so far hasn't been able to get them to budge even a bit. The only downside I can see is that because they're white, especially in the kitchen they're going to get dingy over time due to being handled with stuff on the hands. I wish the company made a couple more colors, maybe beige and chocolate to go with more wood finished cabinetry.
