Fun toy when the age is right!
I bought these a little early for my last grandson. I do hope he’ll have access to them when he’s old enough as they are clever and fun as the kids make you sandwiches or cookies and proudly carry them with the little mitts to you to share! The older grandkids have had them for years, and it also intrigued them that the “knife” cut the veggies apart (velcro)…..and they had a lot of fun with them. Well crafted. Sturdy. Safe.

Great hit in our house
My 4 years old daughter loves everything to do with kitchen and cooking, at first i thought its more suitable for younger kids but she loves to pretend she's making a salad and then she takes out a bowl from the kitchen and serve it, its adorable! So i guess that if you have a child that is interested in cooking they might like it even if they are older.my 1 year old really likes to play with it and separate the pieces. Its nice that some of the fruits has 3 pieces. Its made of wood and is durable, we had similar in the past but they didnt last well

A great set for toddlers
I got this for my grandson and he loves it! The pieces are all good quality and it works great to teach him the names of everything, colors and also how to cut things. It's not too hard to "cut" through the velcro but it's sturdy enough that it stay together. I got a great deal and it's definitely worth what I paid!

Fun for hours
My toddler could not put this down all day. Loves the different fruits and the Velcro allows them to be cut and put back together effortlessly.

Great for developing fine motor skills!
Melissa & Doug is one of our favorite companies to buy toys from as all of our toys from them have held up and engage my children in play. This fruit cutting set has been no exception. My son received this set for Christmas when he was about 18 months old. At first, he enjoyed naming the fruits and talking about the different colors of the fruits. He was delighted when he learned that the fruit could be "cut" with a knife. Initially, he needed assistance holding the knife and pressing through the velcro to cut. Gradually, he began to be able to hold the knife himself and do the cutting himself as well. It was awesome to actually see his fine motor skills grow by playing with this toy. He also went from not being able to put the fruit back together to being able to do it on his own. The fruits with more than two pieces can sometimes be tricky to put back together as you have to line up the right velcro sides, so, it is a great learning process. So far, the toy has held up with routine play. There are no chips on the paint and I can tell this toy will last for years to come as well. Another great toy from Melissa & Doug!

Great toy, Quality Control issues
These fruit are solid wood, the toy knife is well constructed. My toddler (2 years) loves this toy, it's one of her favorites. Two issues though: first, the orange came cracked and we got a splinter from it. Going to attempt to use wood filler and orange paint to fix it, but there's a control issue there.Secondly, some of the divots where the velcro sits are a bit too deep, so some toy fruits have a hard time connecting well (especially the multi-segmented fruits like the banana and melon). In ours, the banana, melon, and kiwi have a _very_ loose connection (sometimes the kiwi is only being held on by one or two velcro strands) while the strawberry, orange, and pear are solid.

Engaging and Educational: A Must-Have Kitchen Playset
I purchased this wooden fruit cutting set for my son after it was recommended by his speech and occupational therapists, and it has been a game changer! He absolutely loves playing with it. Every morning, he gets up on his step stool, grabs the set, and starts ‘cutting’ the fruit, which has been great for improving his fine motor skills. Before we got this, he wasn’t using both hands to cut, but now he’s getting the hang of it. I bought it during Amazon Prime Day on sale, and it was one of the best purchases I’ve made. Plus, it keeps him entertained in the kitchen while I’m cooking, so I don’t have to rely on the tablet as much. I’m now on the lookout for more kitchen playsets that can engage him just as much!

Great for Teaching Little Ones
My kids' school has this and I decided to try it at home as well. It's a great set to introduce kids to cutting foods. Melissa and Doug is a great brand, and this set follows that same quality they're known for. The set is well made and pretty durable so far. It comes with a banana, a slice of cantaloupe, a kiwi, a strawberry, an orange, a lemon, and a pear. The pieces velcro together and then the knife is used to "cut" them apart. I really like that the melon and banana (which each can be cut into three pieces) have the rough sides of the velcro on the middle part, so either end of the fruit can go on either side of the middle piece and not frustrate the child. When I set this up for my kids, I like to place the knife in the cutting position on the melon or the banana; then they usually figure out how to do the same on the other fruits. My only complaint is that the velcro on the kiwi we received is a little too recessed and we have a hard time getting it to stay closed. It's not enough of a problem to even knock off a star, but just something I wanted to mention. I still highly recommend this set.
