Just what I needed.
I got some new knives for Christmas so I needed to have a place for them, both handy and safe. This block worked perfectly. It holds all my knives, both new and old plus my scissors and honing tool. Looks good on the counter.

Excellent value for those with big knives
I bought this largely because it's the only block where the manufacturer bothered to provide actual measurements for the slots that assured me it would fit our selection of larger kitchen knives. But it's completely adequate and I'm very happy with it for the price. This block holds a cheap Utopia cleaver (barely), an older Wusthof chef's knife that measures 10.5" from bolster to tip, an 8" Victorinox Chef's Knife, plus some smaller knives. No tips stick out the bottom nor does anything sit funny. I may add a Santoku at some point and it will accommodate that too. If I had my way, I'd drop the steak knife portion (why keep steak knives in a kitchen block??) and replace it with a row of small slots for paring knives. I'd also change the row above the shears to three narrower slots for utility/filet/boning knives. If I ever drop ten of thousands on a dream kitchen maybe I'll commission a custom woodworking job and get the perfect knife block along with it. In the meantime this does well enough for a relative pittance. Fit and finish is fine... not going to win any style contests, but unobtrusive and decent quality. The lacquered bamboo veneer should be easy to keep clean. Overall, a perfectly functional and reasonably priced knife block, especially for those with larger knives kicking around the kitchen.

Really nice knife block with a few minor issues
Overall, I think this is a very nice knife block. There are plenty of slots and they are spaced nicely so you don't end up having to work too hard to grab the knife you want. This block can accommodate a wide range of knife length and widths which is great as well. The finish is very nice looking and fits in with most decors and the block feels sturdy and sits flat on its 4 rubber feet. The only things keeping this from being a 5 star item are:1. The inside of many of the slots had some wood shavings that had to be knocked off. They don't impeded the blade from entering\leaving the slot and come off rather easily, but it would have been nice if those were already removed - even nicer if the interior of those slots were sanded, but hardly a deal breaker2. On one side, there is a rather obvious and uneven seam where the top part of the block is glued to the bottom part (for the paring\steak knives). Its not horrible, but there's no missing it either.Neither of those two issues was worth the hassle of return IMO - especially as this is such an affordable price point. I also don't know if I just got unlucky and a new one would be devoid of both issues. For the money, I didn't think it was worth exchanging to find out. It works well and the seam side isn't visible with the way I have the block positioned on my counter so I kept it.

Worked great for me - the wider slots were really helpful
This knife block has been great for me. I have a number of knives from a variety of brands, so I needed a block that would accommodate a variety of lengths and widths of the blades (plus my cooking shears). For me, this hit the mark and accommodates all the knives I wanted to store, freeing up precious drawer space in my kitchen by having this on the counter instead.

Perfect! Solids, safe and attractive
Perfect! We had a mishmash of knives that were all in a drawer, making it difficult to choose the right one without worrying about cutting ourselves. Why it took us so long to think of buying a block like this, I have no idea, but I am glad we finally did!! We love it. All our knives are easily accessible and SAFE. The block feels very solid and looks great in the kitchen.

Mostly Awesome
There seems to be some sort of coating applied to the outside of the knife block. I am also allergic to Murphy's Oil Soap. Not a big deal for me and no one's fault - just be cautious if you have that kind of allergy. I am going to try to wash it off.I do love that I finally found an expensive way to store my knives. I have several different brands of knives, and that top slot fits the Faberware Cleaver. The knife handles are too close together in that there is not enough horizontal space on some of the thicker handles. Not a big deal, I just have to be careful removing a knife. It is just nice to have a bunch of slots that are wide enough to store my knives.Another thing is that if you have a very long knife like a 12” Granton slicer, it will stick out. For me, it was not one of the knives I intended to keep in there - again, not a big deal.I would be interested in one with the changes I mentioned with a few more knife slots. It is an eclectic combination of knives and that makes it easy to find. White handles, black handles and different shapes make it easy to find what I am looking for. A matched set looks nice on the outside, but having to pull out several knives to find the one I want is tedious.Bamboo is sustainable which is nice and helps with the price.Overall, it is a nice way to organize my knives. One more thing - I would like to see a washable cover to cover everything when all of my knives are installed. A clear plexi-glass box would be nice. I am considering finding an appropriate size aquarium that I could invert to cover the knives - sounds like a fishy idea.
