I know what you mean. Some-one needs to invent a standard way to measure clothing. Just a guess, based on the problems my Son and I have had, you might want to take your chances. Be prepared to send them back. I ordered medium and that worked out fine. BUT, I also bought another set in black from a different company and they were sort of long and way too wide. This made the black set far too bulky to wear under clothes. They did get used though, as pajamas. Good Luck!

What size waist is the medium?

i have L tall which is 38-40...the Waist BAND is powerfully tight....my waist in jeans is 36 wrangler... 34 1/2 in summer... i think to answer the question, mediums are 34-36...i will buy XL tall next time....the knit fit and length are perfect in tall for 36 inch inseam....

What is waist band size xl tall

I returned them. 6-0 180 inseam 32” size large. Long crotch half way down to my knees. odd fit, a bunch of fabric in crotch. I would pass on them. I just bought Lands End silk long underwear.I bought a large Good fit light weight, warm and well made.
