Are these suitable for steaming vegetables?

Yes the square containers are as they have a removable plastic basket for vegetable steaming. The oblong and smaller containers don't.

Do any come with with a little grid to rest food on whilst microwaving it? Eg for fish to rest on above the base?

No. The lid has a pop up vent button, which allows the steam to escape when using the tub in the microwave.
