Duracoat Aerosol Firearm Finish Kit (Tactical Black)

Restored an old gun but the bluing process would have cost twice as much as the gun was worth. This was a fairly inexpensive alternative. It looks good, too.

I know, I know.. This is not a gun. That being said, I've used Duracoat many times on guns and I absolutely love it. As long as your prep work is done right, this stuff is magic. These photos are the scoops and faux tank from my VMax 1200. I opted for Duracoat because it's tough as hell and their tactical black is the coolest looking black I know of. It came out FLAWLESS.

The product is great, it goes on fantastically, evenly and it's easy to use. The can itself doesn't like to spray pointed downward so you'll need to adjust accordingly. The can states it contains enough to "cover two full-sized rifles" and this is incorrect. I do allot of painting and refinishing and I couldn't get half of a rifle out of this can (unless you aren't too particular about the quality of your coats) you'll need more than one can to do a complete job. Other than that, is a great product! It's a bit expensive per can, but you won't regret it!

The product sprayed awesome. Thus far the coating is as durable as advertised. The preparation product provided worked incredibly well and the final finish was flawless. The only drawback thus far is, it states it will coat two rifles. I followed the online video from the manufacturer and was only able to coat two Glock slides. The manufacturer calls for 4 light coats, I was only able to get 3 per slide. I plan to purchase more to coat a shotgun in the future. I have yet to fire my EDC Glock, but the finish seems as durable as advertised. I would recommend for anyone with good rattle can paint skills.

I liked the easy spray system and the color match was great, in addition the kit came with a degreaser, the complete package.

I spent a large amount of time researching the correct color to use (looking at different types of screens and examples of usage on different materials). I reviewed the Duracoat color palettes from the manufacturer's website and tried to search for picture examples to try to get the correct color.I ultimately purchased two different colors of Duracoat to use on assorted materials. Neither color seemed to be accurate to the palettes and information provide. My conclusion: (1) Duracoat is highly susceptible to color changes on different materials and so the manufacturer can't provide very good color samples; (2) Duracoat simply hasn't invested in trying to provide a way for consumers to determine proper color hues and tints like what other manufacturers have done; or (3) there is inconsistency in either the manufacturing process or the "can within a can" process so that consumers can't really determine the tone and hue until after it is used (i.e., no matching lid caps, color strip on can, small sample card, etc.).Although Duracoat resulted in a better-than-average durability, I'm very disappointed with the challenge of determining what Duracoat color works for me.
